Hello, from personal experience, it works fine. Once the probe is folded, the power is cut off automatically. so that the battery isn't drained Mine has been running for about four months with the original battery. The seller also included an extra battery with the instant read meat thermometer. so sweet.
I haven't used it to check sugar levels in meat cooked on a BBQ, but I don't see why it couldn't. Metal makes up the fold-out probe.
A CR2032 battery is included in the kitchen thermometer, as well as an extra.
The thermometer is intended to measure "simple" temperature, not to maintain it in the container at a constant level.

Based on the reviews, I felt confident in my purchase, but my first attempt disappointed me. I was trying to cook a 2 1/2-inch steak Florentine style, which required the steak to be seared on the outside but rare in the middle, so I needed an internal temperature of 130°F, or 120°F. Preheat oven to 125 degrees Fahrenheit and set aside to come to room temperature. Because the internal temperature only reached around 99°F, I kept it on because I didn't want to serve raw steak. I'm used to cooking by feel, so I could feel the meat firming up even though the temperature remained at 99°F. Thankfully, I couldn't take it any longer and cut the steak free. Unfortunately, it was more in the medium/medium-high range. I got a lot closer to the rare I was aiming for. We'd be eating charcoal if I'd waited until the internal temperature reached 130°F. br>I like to cook our steaks medium rare. It was extremely rare, and despite the fact that it tasted decent, it was a huge letdown. It was a squandered purchase that came dangerously close to ruining two $60 cuts of meat. br>It was simple to read, but it was far from accurate. Before grilling, I brought the steaks to room temperature for 3 hours. br>From now on, I'll rely on my senses rather than a thermometer. br>br>Update: I received a replacement from the company, and it worked perfectly. What I was most impressed with was the company's commitment to customer satisfaction, which is not something we see very often these days. Based on the thermometer's performance and the company's commitment to customer satisfaction, I can now give this product and company five stars.
First and foremost, it is extremely simple to use. It's as simple as extending the probe to activate it. The temperature will be displayed on the screen after that. The user guide specifically states that the probe should not be extended beyond 180 degrees, which means after it has reached a straight line with the body, it should not be extended any further. This is something to keep in mind if you have children assisting you in the kitchen. Second, there are two batteries included with the thermometer. There's no need to worry about installing the second one because the first is already there. br>Another feature I like is the built-in magnet, which allows you to quickly attach it to your refrigerator! If you don't want to use magnets on your fridge, it also comes with velcro stickers that you can use to stick it anywhere. br>It's definitely a fancier thermometer that comes at a reasonable price.
I've bought several digital meat thermometers over the years after having had bad luck with mechanical meat thermometers. The latest is the Temlo TM26, which is the best budget digital thermometer we've seen so far. It came with a spare battery and a magnetic back, so it didn't get banged up in the kitchen drawer. I've only used it on one roast, but it appears to tell the truth about internal temperature and how it relates to the degree of doneness of the meat. The durability of this item will have to be determined over time, but it can be washed in running water. Other budget thermometers, I discovered the hard way, do not stand up to routine cleaning. br>br>I'm writing this review in response to a sweepstakes entry, but I'd honestly write the same review if the manufacturer hadn't asked me to. For a low-cost meat thermometer, this appears to be a good deal.
I placed an order on Tuesday, and it will be delivered on Friday. Because there was no message, I attempted to deal with customer service chat for a long time before receiving a call from the Amazon Care team, who placed me on hold while they contacted UPS. After an 8-minute wait, someone said hello and asked if I could assist you. I thought I'd been rerouted to Amazon Switchboard, but it turns out I'd been transferred to UPS. I told the lady why I was calling, and she had no idea what I was talking about. It was aggravating because all I wanted to know was why. The label was created two days after my Tuesday order, but it was not delivered to the UPS facility until the following Monday- per UPS. The following Tuesday, it was delivered. Last night was the first time I used it. I needed something quick to read, and this fit the bill. On the grill, pork chops. They were 175 degrees, according to the tempering. Done! I brought them in and cut them into bite-size pieces to eat, and they were very pink! Return to grill and calibrate with an ice bath, as directed. Set the temperature to 32 degrees Fahrenheit. I decided to make an ice bath again this morning to see if the temperature would drop to 32, but it stayed at 34. The number 9 would not return to its original value of 32. So I'll give it back to you.
To begin with, it comes in a fancy bag when you take it out of the box. It's a bit like wrapping a present. In my hands, it feels at ease - My ring finger, for some reason, found the hole that serves as a sort of anchor. The display is simple and straightforward to read. Added to the mix - It has built-in magnets, so instead of putting it in a drawer, you can put it on the side of your fridge if that makes sense (mine is close to my stove). The only way to find out is to wait. If I find anything negative, I'll update this, but otherwise, there will be no change - It's safe to assume that it's still doing a good job.
I spend a lot of time barbecuing. I had an old meat thermometer that I'd have to use while testing the meat, so I'd have to wear gloves. br>br>With this unit, I was able to check all of the cuts of meat on the grill quickly and before my hand became too warm because it turned on as soon as I moved the probe. It has a cool memory function that allows me to check several spots on a brisket and note the results (briskets may cook faster on one end than the other, ya know), and it has a back light feature for guys like me who finish up a brisket late at night. br>br>This is a fantastic purchase!.
This thermometer is of excellent quality. This is the third food thermometer I've tried, and it's by far the best, as it's simple to use and clean. The fact that an extra battery is included with the purchase is such a nice addition. br>Very accurate with all information you need printed on the face of the device. It can be difficult to match batteries at times. br>The device's back is also magnetic, allowing it to be kept on the refrigerator rather than in the kitchen drawer. br>I recommended it to my son, who had recently bought one. This is a purchase you will not be sorry for!.
