When the charging cable is plugged in, the red backlight illuminates. It can be used for a period of 25 days if you use it for 20 minutes each day.
I'm going to assume you read the $22 item's instruction manual. I took mine out again and saw that there was no mention of recalibration, as I had expected. For different temperature ranges, accuracy factors are provided. I'm not sure you'll be able to recalibrate any of the other thermometers you mentioned. You have the impression that yours is a bit on the high side. As a reference, I checked mine in water at a rolling boil and it read 198°F, which is about 14°F low. (We are about 600 feet above sea level.) ) Despite this, I've been pleased with how well my recently purchased (2 months) thermometer has helped me prepare steaks and hamburgers on our Blackstone Griddle. If you wish, you can manually "recalibrate" by subtracting the amount by which you believe it is reading too high in your case. If it's, say, 8 degrees Fahrenheit, subtract 8 degrees Fahrenheit from whatever the thermometer shows. The high quality construction and features of this inexpensive item (especially the USB recharging) have wowed me. I hope this has been of assistance.
Selected User Reviews For Meat Thermometer with Rechargeable Battery, Digital Kitchen Food Cooking Thermometer Accurate for Candy Oil BBQ Grill Smoker, Built-in Food Temperature Guide, Alarm, LCD Backlight, IPX7 Waterproof
Well, a few years ago, I spent about 5 years working in a Calibration Lab, where we tested the accuracy of a variety of items, including thermometers. Unless you need ultra precision (like down to the hundredth of a degree), thermometers are relatively simple to calibrate. All you need is a pan of boiling water (in the lab, we had to use distilled water, but tap water will suffice in this case) and the temperature of boiling water (unless you live on a mountain somewhere) is 212 degrees. period. So I got some water to boil, and it read exactly 212 degrees (as shown in the photo). The next step was to make an ice bath in our specially designed insulated container, and after mixing and allowing the ice bath to come to temperature for a few minutes, it would always be 32 degrees (see picture), proving that this thermometer was accurate. Last but not least, we took a comparison reading from a known standard, such as our lab thermometer, somewhere in the middle of the temperature range, to ensure that it tracked accurately (see image). So, to summarize: br>Accurate at high temperaturebr>Accurate at low temperaturebr>Accurate at room temperaturebr>Waterproofbr>Alarm to let you know when your meat reaches the set temperaturebr>Presets for different meatsbr>USB Charge that lasts for monthsbr>br>Bottom Line: You cannot get a better reading for your meat temperature and ensure that your family is eating meat that has been brought to the proper temperaturebr> ) As a result, 5 stars for an item that is extremely accurate and of excellent quality.
I noticed that the exterior of this meat thermometer is different from others; I wasn't sure what the purpose of this design was until I bought it and used it; however, I found it to be extremely effective. done! br>Why am I saying this? br>br>For starters, the thermometer's body is made of oil. Proof and dust-proof are two words that come to mind when thinking about this product. After you've used it, it's very simple to clean. I only have to wash it with water, and the body is completely clean. It truly is watertight. Second, it has more features. br>br> I can set the temperature I want, and when the measurement temperature reaches that temperature, an alarm will sound. Third, the battery is extremely long-lasting. This digital cooking thermometer has a longer battery life than many other food thermometers, lasting up to 40 days on a single charge. I don't have to worry about replacing batteries or running out of power on a regular basis; Finally, it is very cost-effective; the needle is long and thin, making it easy to insert into the meat; the temperature reading is also very accurate, leaving little room for error.
12/10/2020 UPDATED I bought this thermometer in March of this year and thought it was great until I tried it out a day ago to test the temperature of some bread. I assumed it needed to be charged because it wouldn't turn on. I plugged it in to charge it, and when I tried to turn it on after several hours, it would not turn on. I grabbed another cable and plugged it in, thinking it was the cable, but it still wouldn't turn on after several hours of waiting. The small clip that used to be in the thermometer was now hanging on the end of the charge cord. It had been used a lot, but I only had to charge it a couple of times so I know it wasn't being plugged in and pulled out a lot. This has left me extremely disappointed. br>UPDATE: br>I contacted the seller and informed them of the problems I was having with the one I had. They responded quickly, informing me that another would be sent. I got the new one and immediately put it to use testing the temperature of my cinnamon swirl bread, which came out at exactly 190 degrees. I'm upgrading from a one to a four star rating, and I'll update in a few months.
I only intended to purchase a standard meat thermometer, but it turned out to be quite exceptional. When you're reading the temperature on the monitor, it's lit up. That'll come in handy because my oven's light is out. The most incredible feature is that it is WATERPROOF! It only needs to be washed after each use. Simple and straightforward. You appear to be able to set a specific temperature as well. However, I have yet to test this feature. Overall, it's a far superior product to what I'd hoped for.
I got it for $10 because it was on sale and I had a $3 coupon code. So I can't complain about the price because it's simple to use and the device reads quickly. With the press of a button, you can change the meat types. With its own button, you can easily switch between C and F. The temperature can be read in any light condition thanks to the backlight display. I like that it's a rechargeable battery, which means I don't have to worry about running out of batteries when I need it. There is no charger included, only a USB cable. It is not a deal breaker because everyone has a charger lying around the house somewhere that they can use to charge the device; however, I have only used the device once and will update this review if anything changes.
When I'm cooking on the stovetop or in the oven, it's sometimes difficult to tell if the food is at the right temperature or cooked to your liking. This thermometer sounded simple enough to use, so I decided to give it a shot. br>br>The reading is clear, you can choose which type of food you want to check, and it's rechargeable! That's a big deal for me because remembering to get batteries for all of your different devices is the most annoying thing. br>br>I like this thermometer because it is simple to use and precise. This makes it a little easier to keep an eye on your food while you're cooking.
