This was used to make marmalade, which necessitates precise temperature control. Except for the occasional failure to turn on, it was flawless. I noticed that if I tapped it on the face, it would turn on. I figured it had to be a bad battery connection because it was leaking into my palm. When I opened the battery compartment, I noticed that the coin-operated mechanism had a lot of up/down play. battery. I used a soft, thin gasket (a small square of 3M double-sided tape) to seal the gap. I put a piece of double-sided tape on the back of the battery, closed the battery compartment, and it now works properly.
This thermometer was one of my favorites. It's conveniently located on my refrigerator. It's easy to read and I'm pretty sure it was accurate, though I can't say for sure because I don't have anything to compare it to. I've had it since mid-June. . . 5 months. . . and I cleaned it with a soapy dishcloth as I always do after using it. The temperature gauge pulled away from the main body this time under very light pressure. I can't get it back in, and I can't use it the way it is right now. Buyer beware because the return period was only one month.
The fact that the reading on the screen can change directions depending on how you hold it is appealing to me. This thermometer was purchased for the purpose of scalding breast milk to 180 degrees. Having a quick, accurate reading is extremely beneficial. I haven't compared it to any other thermometers yet so I can not say if it is 100% accurate. That's all I can think of at the moment.
This is a nice thermometer that we mostly use for meat. The device's battery died after less than a month of use, but everything else works as it should. br>Recent changes: The battery is always running out of power. We've only been able to use it a few times, and each time we try to use it, the battery dies. I've replaced it four times now, and the temperature still isn't correct. It is not advised!.
I was dissatisfied with the flimsy product and the difficulty in calibrating it.
This is how we determine the temperature of a baby bottle. When compared to the thermometer we were given at the hospital, it appears to be accurate. I like this unexpected feature: The numbers change depending on how you hold it, but they are always upright.
It works fine, but make sure you note whether the temperature is in Fahrenheit or Celsius, or you'll think it's broken, as I did at first.
It has excellent accuracy, but it does not always start; on occasion, the battery is out of place, and you must use a tool to open the battery holder, which is inconvenient.
