To be honest, I bought it because I was in desperate need of a cheap thermometer with a corded probe. I didn't expect it to be quite so nice. The only criticism I have is that there is no pork temperature preset, but it does have an adjustable temperature feature, so this isn't a major issue. The heat probe also shuts off after a few minutes while my food is cooking, which is fine if you're concerned about battery life, but when I turn it back on, it reads no change in temperature and I have to unplug the cord probe to clear it before plugging it back in. Then it works perfectly; it's strange, but I can live with it. br>I hope that this information is useful.
My old one's brand name escapes me, and it's in the trash, but I much prefer this DecorStar; I've cooked steaks before, and I prefer mine medium rare. I haven't tried the probe yet, so I can't comment, but I highly recommend it.
This worked fine at first, but then it began flashing back and forth every few seconds between the temperature screen and another screen. It will not stop doing this if you press any button or combination of buttons. Even removing the battery for a short time had no effect.
I had it for about a month and had only used it three times. It simply ceased to function. I also thought the temperature reading was off, and Amazon told me I couldn't return it and that I should contact the seller, but I never heard back.
I've tried a lot of digital meat thermometers, and this one is the best of them. It's fantastic value for money. I am a huge fan of the pre- Meat temperatures that can be programmed and a target temperature that can be set. I would strongly suggest it.
This thermometer, unlike my previous instant read thermometer, does not appear to have an automatic shut-off feature when not in use. The battery will quickly drain if you don't close the probe; otherwise, it appears to work well, but the function features aren't very intuitive, and the instructions are too complicated to remember if you don't use it often.
Another Meat Thermometer had broken after a year and had to be replaced. br>It was very simple to calibrate it using the instructions. I'm more certain it's correct now. br>The screen is large and simple to read. br>I'm hoping for a long time.
So far, this thermometer appears to be in excellent working order! Furthermore, the screen is large and easy to read.
