It's not designed to be used in the oven while cooking, but rather as an instant read thermometer that can be used to take a quick reading by simply opening the oven door.
I used it to make candy, and it worked perfectly! However, do not leave this thermometer near your pot for an extended period of time; it should only be used for a quick read.

I'm the chef de cuisine for a competitive barbecue team. In a competition, getting the temperature of the chicken spot on can mean the difference between juicy meat that wins and less juicy meat that keeps you out of the top ten. However, most backyard cooks do not require such precision. This is where the thermometer enters the picture. br>br>I manually checked the calibration (it was only off by a few degrees). 3 degrees) to ensure that we were properly calibrated from the beginning. I put this thermometer through three tests, comparing the results to those of my $100 M4 thermoworks thermapen. br>br>1- br>br>br>br>br>br>b in water that has reached room temperature Both readouts can be found within. They are only 5 degrees apart. 2- br>br>br>br>br>br>br>br>b within 1 degree in a freshly cooked chicken breast br>br>3- if you're looking for a unique way to express yourself, this is the place to On the counter, resting the brisket Within 1. 3 degrees Celsius. br>br>The meat tests were carried out in the same hole, at the same depth, with the second probe inserted immediately after the first was removed. br>br>In my opinion. This thermometer is a great deal at $15. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as the more expansive ones, but it's still a good deal. $15! What I really want in a handheld meat thermometer is accuracy, the ability to fit in an apron pocket, and the ability to read the temperature quickly. All of these things were accomplished by this unit. br>br>I can't say it will outlast my much more expensive thermapen because I don't know how long it will last in the long run, but does it matter at this price? I have no reservations in recommending this thermometer to anyone on a budget who requires one. In fact, I'm currently helping a friend come up with Father's Day gift ideas for her husband. For them, this is ideal. br>br>I'll keep this in my kitchen drawer and use it whenever I cook.
There are no buttons that are difficult to understand. To turn it on, simply open it; to turn it off, simply close it. The screen is large and easy to read, and I appreciate that it can be backlit. Because I have poor vision, the additional light is extremely beneficial. The readings are quick and precise. br>br> There's no need to sit around and wait for the temperature to rise. It provides an accurate reading in a short amount of time, ensuring that your food is ready when you are! It also includes a temperature chart, which I find very useful as a reference. The storage of this item is extremely simple. br>br>Out of the box, it's ready to use. I've tried a few different food thermometers and this one is by far the best.
I've been in desperate need of a quick fix for a while now. I don't cook meat very often, so it's more difficult for me to cook it when I do. Having a ready-made solution The best way to cook meat without overcooking or undercooking it is to use a read thermometer, and this one does the job well for a low price. br>br>Prosbr>- Auto- a switch to turn it on or off The probe turns on when it is flipped open, and it turns off when it is flipped closed.
- A magnet is located within the device. Because our stove is so close to our refrigerator, the thermometer is always close by when we're cooking. Instead of the magnet, you can use the four velcro dots that come with the kit.

I had no idea that the orange plastic round piece in the package was the "coin" for opening the battery chamber. When I tried to use a butter knife, I ended up digging into the plastic (as seen in the photo). But it was my own fault for failing to read the instructions. I had to pry the battery out with a flathead screwdriver because it was difficult to remove with my fingers. This is not, however, a problem that will have an impact on day-to-day life. It's only used once a day and isn't very significant. br>br>Because I just got it, I can't comment on the long-term implications. However, for $10, it's a fantastic entry-level product. Stop overcooking your meat by using this level model.
Unfortunately, meats don't have consistent readings all over (pork butts are particularly difficult), so I'm looking forward to using this thermometer during my next smoke to ensure my meat is at the proper temperature (195-200°F). 205F), as well as a few other non-instant read probes in my collection (you can never have too many thermometers!). I put this instant read to the test on some Costco chicken tenderloins I cooked from frozen last night (had to whip up a quick meal for the kids), because I didn't want to serve the family chicken that was either (1) seared on the outside but raw on the inside or (2) overcooked. Because overcooked chicken is the worst, I'm grateful for this quick read that told me when to stop cooking. My non-instant read probes would not have allowed me to pan fry as quickly as I needed. This purchase has met my expectations. It's well-made, and its new home is magnetized to my microwave above my stove, allowing me to use it whenever I want.
This meat thermometer is simple to use, and I bought it as part of my husband's Father's Day gift because the one he had from Walmart was having technical issues. It only takes a few seconds to turn on after you open it. If you enjoy cooking meats and want to get the temperature just right, this is a must-have. Steak, chicken, pork, and fish have all been served with it. I prefer to air fry my fish because it gives me the peace of mind that I won't be biting into smooshy uncooked fish, which has ruined many a meal in the past.
For the first time, I used this meat thermometer to check the doneness of a steak that I was grilling on a Traeger for the first time. Unfortunately, I was using the Traeger probe to monitor the steak temperature during cooking, and when it indicated that the steak was at the proper temperature for med rare, I checked it with this Brexfire digital thermometer and discovered that it was 10 degrees warmer than desired. I should've double-checked with the Brexfire a little earlier. After putting both the Traeger probe and this digital thermometer in an ice bath, I discovered that the Traeger probe was the winner. Because the probe was off, an offset had to be applied. In an ice bath, the Brexfire digital thermometer read exactly 32 degrees Fahrenheit, as it should. I've already found this unit to be extremely beneficial.
