Questions & Answers
The large Sterno cans are available for use. However, despite its high quality, this fondue stand comes with a rather cheap alcohol burner that lacks a "screen gauze" insert and instead comes with an empty burner. We were able to use an old set burner and always use denatured alcohol instead of the Sterno. The Sterno is fine for cheese fondue, but it does not keep the oil hot enough for a meal with meat and vegetables. That's what we've found to be the case. During the winter, we make fondue at least a dozen times. Enjoy.
This rechaud was made for a much bigger pot, and a votive candle won't be enough to keep it warm. A votive candle can melt a small amount of chocolate for a chocolate fondue (in a smaller pot), but it won't heat up a cheese fondue or an oil/broth fondue sufficiently.
Yes. These are intended for use on a dining table. There is no risk. Naturally, caution must be exercised when dealing with children.
The Swissmar Lugano Fondue Pot is compatible with this Rechaud. We recommend that you use this pot for maximum safety.
Selected User Reviews For Swissmar Wrought Iron Rechaud with Fondue Burner
This is an excellent stand. It's a little ornate and doesn't take up a lot of room, which we like. The burner, on the other hand, is finicky; it's difficult to light at first (we used the recommended Swissmar gel), and it doesn't go low enough without going out. Because you can't turn down the heat low enough, the fondue begins to burn on the bottom of the pot as you eat it. There is an excessive amount of heat in the flame. When you twist the burner into place, the top does not stay on. Overall, the burner has a cheap feel to it, and we'll be on the lookout for a replacement.
It's not up to par with my expectations in terms of quality, but it'll do the job. It has a cheap appearance and feel to it, but it works. I kept it as a result.
For traditional Swiss Fondue Pots, this is the best, most durable base. It's especially well-suited to vintage Landert pots. Thank you very much, Swissmar.
It's attractive.
I wish it was all black.
This is a very nice heater. It's quite effective.
The edge is too sharp, and the first time I used it, it cut my finger.
