To go with my Blackstone griddle, I bought this basting pot. I needed a basting pot that I could keep on the griddle in the corner while I cooked. This is a fantastic pot. It is well-made and made of stainless steel. I simply put whatever sauce or clarified butter I want in the pot and place it on the corner griddle. It keeps the sauces warm or melts my clarified butter. Heat-resistant silicon is used to make the brush. When I need to bast, add sauce, oil, or clarified butter, I simply grab the top of the pot and bast the food. The fact that the top and brush are made from the same material is appealing to me. I don't have to be concerned about anything falling into it.
As a result, I'm storing bacon grease for cooking in this container. I searched high and low for something sturdy and heat resistant that could withstand the temperature of the grease after it had been cooked. It's a great container. Apply the grease with the brush, which works much better than I anticipated. I'm going to get a second one to store sauces in.
We had been looking for something with quality for a long time and had finally given up and were basting almost every night on our grill with a quality baster and a rubbermaid or Tupperware type container. This pot, as well as the baster, are fantastic. We always make our own special bbq sauce, and now we just leave what's left in the jar, cover it, and store it in the fridge for the next eve or whenever.
This was the ideal choice because it holds a lot, is very sturdy, doesn't take up a lot of fridge space, and has the brush attached to the handle. When grilling, it's a breeze.
After only two days, the top handle broke. In the event that this was a defective item, I wish I could get a replacement.
That's exactly what I was looking for! My "secret" sauce stayed warm in the container, and the brush applied just enough of it - unlike a sauce mop, which soaks it up and wastes it.
On our stovetop, we used it to melt butter. What I dislike about the product is that after two months of use, the rod on which the brush is mounted began to rust (see photos). To avoid this issue, the rod and pot should be made of the same material. Aside from that, it performs as expected for us.
This was a big hit with my husband. It's incredibly durable! It has a good seal and can hold a lot of BBQ sauce.
