They get washed in the silverware tray, which is on the bottom rack. Clean up the end!
The silicone handles on the basting brushes I received are a nice touch. They're used to baste meat while grilling (on a gas or charcoal grill). Melting has never been an issue for me. They'd probably melt if they got too close to the fire.
I'm not sure how large they are; you get four brushes, which I use for everything. Chickens and turkeys should be brushed with pastry cream and marinated. This was a fantastic purchase.
I'm not sure what I'm saying. They are of high quality and can be washed in the dishwasher.

I've ordered a few different types, and these are by far the best because they don't have individual parts where water can collect and cause mold, as almost every other type does. Because these are one solid unit, there will be no moisture left in them to cause mold when they dry out. I had a set that detach from the handle, and when I cleaned them one day, the inside was so filthy that I couldn't believe I was putting barbecue sauce on my food. I've found that these are the cleanest.
These brushes have a lot of smaller bristles and can hold both thin and thick liquids (like butter or bbq sauce). In the dishwasher, they clean up easily and dry quickly. For the 4-person family, this is a fantastic deal. pack!.
I used to dislike using stick spray because it left me with a greasy paper towel and shortening all over my fingers and counter. Yuk! I have some old pastry brushes that are made of natural bristles. During use, the bristles may fall out. Yuk once more. I just finished making a large batch of bread pudding in disposable aluminum containers. I smeared the sides of the pans in both directions as I brushed on the shortening. against the pans' side grooves and with the pans' side grooves After that, I simply tossed the pastry brush in the dishwasher. No yuk! br>br>I'm sure these will be perfect for making our fake Egg McMuffins with our metal egg rings.
We use it to butter our waffle irons and have had no problems with it melting or working properly.
What had I been waiting for? These are fantastic; they're simple to clean, apply butter or sauce smoothly, and there are no bristles on the food. When using milk to coat the tops of biscuits, they load up surprisingly well. The price is also unbeatable. For four of them, that is. You will not be dissatisfied with your purchase.
I'm not going to say how long it will take. It's extremely difficult to clean the old brush. I end up soaking them in detergent and rinsing them several times before spraying them with commercial kitchen sanitizer and hoping for the best. br>br>I wish I'd bought these things sooner. They work just as well as a natural brush for most tasks, and they're incredibly simple to clean by hand or in the dishwasher. I didn't need four of them, but I'd gladly pay this much for just one. I've got a few extras now.
I had misplaced my last free silicon one, so these were long overdue. Before the silicon, these were made with a difficult to clean the seem well, AND the base of the bristles was nearly impossible to clean completely, so the silicon prevents bacteria buildup. They also work a thousand times better as an added benefit. I thought I only needed one, but having two in the kitchen has proven to be beneficial. The other two are now in my craft room, so it was a good deal all around. There was no odor in mine.
All those years of using a bristled pastry brush - It was a complete disaster. I like the long handles, the fact that they can withstand high temperatures, the ease with which they can be cleaned, and so on. I use these a lot more than I ever did the pastry brush. Also, with four of them, I'll be able to share with my daughter when she gets her own place.
