It varies according to the book! Obviously, this is designed to accommodate large paperbacks or average-sized books. My iPad fits perfectly in one of the "arms," and my Kindle sits comfortably behind another.
It's built to last and should be able to hold almost any book. It works great for me as a stand for my flip books. I purchased a second one because I liked it so much.

I like the bamboo material because it is strong and smooth. The splinters aren't going to come out. Pages, like page holders, will not turn on their own. As an example, the dept for large books. This is a good activity for kids to do while they are doing their homework or at home.
This appears to have been glued together quickly and then wiped off. In front of it, there's also some yellow hard stuff. I attempted to remove it, but it became stuck. This stand was purchased to support a textbook and it works perfectly! My textbook is approximately 3 inches thick and heavy; This stand can easily accommodate it. Being able to consult the textbook while working on the computer is extremely convenient. I also like the fact that the display can be adjusted and that it folds completely flat.
