Because these cards have a matte finish, they can be written on with any type of pen or pencil. I bought these (along with the matching recipe book) for my sister as a gift, and I wrote down some of my favorite recipes for her. They're a good size for recipes with a moderate level of difficulty. I liked this set so much that I plan to buy one for myself. Some of the more complex dishes required two cards, but it worked out fine. It's impossible to beat the combination of high quality and good value.
SEVERAL OF THESE CARDS HAVE BEEN PURCHASED FOR MY ESSENTIAL OIL RECIPES. THESE ARE THICK STALK, WELL MADE, AND HANDSOME, EXACTLY WHAT I REQUIRED FOR MY RECIPE. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND I WILL ORDER FROM THEM AGAIN WHEN THE TIME COMES.
In a few years, neither time nor my own tastes will be outdated, so I prefer a classic look. Because of the lined back (which is a great feature that I don't always see on recipe cards), they are simple, elegant, and allow for fairly long entries. I've been writing down a lot of my recipes recently, and these are the only cards I've used so far. I've had to repurchase them several times and am confident that I will do so again. The cards are fantastic.
Only the section titles for "Title" and "Ingredients" are listed on the card; the instructions section is not. This can help to avoid wasting space between the ingredients and the process. However, it appears that a section heading has been omitted. I've kept buying these cards, as well as the books and sleeves that go with them, in order to put together my own cookbook.
I first ordered these cards in 2015 because they are beautiful, heavy cards, and I needed more now, so I ordered another package. On the front of those cards, there were 12 lines to write on. This new package only has ten lines, which are wider and spaced a little further apart than before, limiting the amount of information that can be written on the card. Because some recipes have a lot of ingredients and are long, I prefer the cards with 12 lines that are a little closer together.
I went through a lot of cards before settling on these, which were large enough to fit most recipes on. They were given as a present and had family recipes written on them - a positive response.
My Sharpie pen did not bleed through, so it was exactly as I expected.
They looked exactly like the recipe cards that came with the package. It held all of the ingredients on the front and enough room on the back to write the directions for most of the recipes I've tried.
