Questions & Answers

What is the best water-to-rice ratio for brown rice, and how long should it be cooked? I'm having trouble with it. Help is needed! ?

I'm going slightly over 2 to 1 in terms of water to brown rice, so 1 cup brown rice gets 2 1/4 cup water, 2 cups brown rice gets 4 1/2 cup water, and so on. The amount of rice I'm cooking determines how long it takes to cook. It takes about 14 - 15 minutes in my microwave (Panasonic 1200 watts) to cook 1 cup of brown rice in my microwave (Panasonic 1200 watts). It will take 15 minutes. If your microwave has a lower wattage, such as 950 watts, you'll need a few minutes longer than I did. It's fine to remove the Sistema from the microwave and check on the rice's progress. You're only going to remove the cover for as long as you need to check the rice - Keep your eyes peeled for the scalding steam. At 12 p.m., take it out. 13 minutes (if you have a microwave with similar power to mine), check it, then put it back in for 2 more minutes, and repeat until done. Once you've nailed down your timing, you won't need to do the two-minute check again. To keep track of what worked, I keep a piece of paper with my spice box on which I write down what I've done for various grains. In addition, I frequently cook quinoa in the Sistema, which takes about the same amount of time to cook as brown rice. Finally, let the Sistema stand for 3 - 5 minutes for best results. After you take it out of the microwave, cook it for 4 minutes with the cover on for a better, fluffier brown rice - I'm not sure why, but it works. quinoa.

Is there any BPA in this product?

It is, but the Sistema website's FAQ page has long since dropped the claim that the polypropylene material (as indicated by the "5" code in the recycling triangle icon and the "PP" label at the bottom of the container) is free of Bisphenol S, a strong endocrine disruptor with a chemical structure nearly identical to BPA.

Is there a recipe book included, such as one for beef stew or pea soup?

There are 20-minute rice/multi cooker recipes on the sistemaplastics website. a recipe that includes instructions

Does it contain no BPA?

Yes, the bowl has a BPA-free label on the bottom.

I used long grain white the first time I tried it
3/5

It worked perfectly the first time I tried it with long grain white rice. I decided to try brown rice, and the instructions stated that I should follow the package directions, which I did. After only a few minutes of cooking, the rice and then the entire pot caught fire. It even charred the bottom of the container. For days, the entire house reeked, and cleaning the microwave was a pain. I can't return it for a refund, but I do have several photos of the damage, which I can't send to Amazon because there isn't a way for me to do so. br>All I want is a refund, but I can't get in touch with anyone. I don't want to be replaced.

Great ! This is a fantastic product
5/5

It piqued my girlfriend's interest, and she placed an order. I wasn't expecting it to work so well. In the microwave, 20 minutes makes perfect rice (she's already done it twice). Please don't do it! DO NOT DO IT AGAIN! If you add any oil or butter, it will melt in your microwave, as other reviewers have said, and if you follow that simple direction, you will get perfect rice every time.

It's simple to operate and maintain
5/5

I've had it for about seven months and it's still my favorite kitchen tool. I eat a lot of rice, so I appreciate how simple it is to prepare and clean. I microwaved it for 15 minutes with one cup of white rice and two cups of water. I've cooked rice on the stove and in an electronic rice cooker in the past, and I prefer this microwave rice cooker to both. br>br>I've cooked rice on the stove and in an electronic rice cooker in the past, and I prefer this microwave rice cooker to both. I despised the messiness of cooking on the stove, and my electric cooker developed mold in the non-washable parts. There will be no mess, and there will be no places where mold or bacteria can grow. After I'm done with it, I can put everything in the dishwasher. This is fantastic! This is something I wish I'd known about when I was in college.

The rice steamer is fantastic
5/5

This rice steamer has been in our possession for the past five months. With the exception of my first attempt, each batch has been exceptional. Chinese food appeals to us. I served the rice with steamed vegetables and broiled chicken, as well as hot sauce shrimp (see photo). br>br>I've seen reviews of the product melting and solidifying rice. I'm not sure how they get the results they do. The steamer came with a guide, which I follow. I begin with the shortest time frame available. I take a deep breath and open the bowl. After stirring the rice with the paddle for 2 minutes, I add another 2 minutes. Open, inspect, and stir If the water hasn't completely absorbed, put it back in for a minute or two. br>br>I also discovered that washing the rice had a significant impact on the way it cooked. On Amazon, you can find a wide variety of wash bowls. br>br>I'm so glad I found this product; instant rice is no longer an option for us.

The second time you can use it
3/5

I don't have a particularly good or bad microwave; instead, I have a fairly standard model in the middle of the range. I tried cooking rice with broth, as the instructions stated, and had to yank this melted disaster outside and toss it on the porch to silence the fire alarm halfway through.

This is my all-time favorite kitchen tool
5/5

Despite having a very expensive 20-year-old 20-year-old 20-year-old 20-year-old 20-year-old 20 year- I had an old Zojirushi rice cooker that was fantastic—because I liked the idea of having rice ready in ten minutes for everyday use. br>br>This rice cooker is fantastic. This is without a doubt the best kitchen tool I've ever purchased. Ever. It's also a bargain at $15. It takes some experimenting to get the water/rice ratio right for your microwave (the instructions made my rice slightly soupy), but once you do, it makes rice just as well as the Zojirushi. And it only takes ten minutes to prepare! It can also be used to steam any vegetable, and it does so well. I can't say enough good things about it, and I'd like to share my enthusiasm with you.

It's quickly become one of my favorite pieces of kitchen equipment
5/5

I always cook my rice in pots on the stove, even if it's only for a few minutes. Despite the fact that I have a rice cooker (the only thing I use from it is the cup, lol), the rice has started to stick to the pot and is difficult to clean. So I've been on the lookout for a decent small rice cooker. Give it a shot because the price is reasonable. I'm completely sold after the first use! "Splatter-free" is a term used to describe a situation in which The included "free" lid can also be used to drain water from the rice after each wash (though some rice will spill). (This is still better than using my hands to keep the rice from draining out of the pot in the past. ) ))br>br>I'm not sure how most people measure their cooking, but I use those rice cooker cups, so I think the instructions should include both a "unit of measurement" (which is what is on the instruction page) and an "old school" method of calculating how many cups of rice to how many cups of water.

The first time I did it, I melted the bottom of the pot; now I know how to do it properly
4/5

I used brown rice and burned out the bottom of the pot on the first use; I followed the instructions exactly in terms of rice-to-water ratio and was aiming for 18 minutes as per the Sistema website for brown rice; no fat! There wasn't a lot of free water left after 10 minutes, but there was plenty of moisture and steam. The bottom of the unit had melted out when I checked again at 14 minutes. br>Amazon replaced the item for free. br>br>This is what I learned after experimenting with the replacement and trying various brown rice packages. 1. br>br> Because of the long, thin grains, I prefer Dynasty Jasmine Brown Rice. For that rice, use the following formula:br>2. 1 cup rice, 3 cups rice, 1 cup rice, 1 cup rice, 1 cup rice, 1 cup rice, 1 cup rice After rinsing with cold water and shaking strainer to remove excess water, place in container.
4. 2 1/4 cup cold water, 5 bbr> Microwave on high for 24 minutes (check at 20 minutes the first time because microwaves vary),br>6. Remove from the oven and set aside for 5 minutes with the lid still on. ,
7. Using a fork, fluff the mixture. br>There should be no free water at the end of the microwave period, but the rice should still be moist - Rhat will be absorbed during the cool-down process, thanks to the steam container. Time to relax. br>br>Perfect every time!.
