Questions & Answers

Is there no bpa in this product?

There is no plastic; it is made of glass and stainless steel. As a result, BPA is prohibited.

Is there anything you can think of that you'd need to stream for more than 90 minutes?

If you're attempting to steam hardy vegetables such as orka, rutabaga, or squash, it will take longer to achieve a softer texture.

When food is steaming, the water will flow to the pot's bottom. So, when there's electricity, how do you clean the bottom of the pot? You say it's simple to do?

The plug is detachable, allowing you to clean the bottom part of the machine without having to worry about a cord dangling. However, as with any other appliance, do not submerge it in water. I've been using a spray surface cleaner to clean it out, and it's been very effective. It's not like it's nasty because all that collects at the bottom is water from whatever you're steaming. Simply dump, spray, and wipe.

What is the steamer's diameter?

9 inches

This steamer is still a work in progress for me
3/5

I've only had this steamer for a few days, so I haven't had a chance to try it out with a variety of foods yet. However, after two uses, there are some positive aspects to it as well as some negative aspects. br>Let's start with the good stuff: Steel baskets that can be washed in the dishwasher and aren't made of the cheap, leaching plastic that so many other steamers on the market are made of. A clear glass lid that can be washed in the dishwasher and allows you to see the food steaming. The interface is straightforward. It appears to deliver a consistent stream of extremely hot steam. The steamer base's power cord can be removed. Things that aren't so great: After only one use, the water reservoir (steamer's base) stained (it may be steel, but it's not "stainless" steel). The timer is only a dial and not digital (which I knew when I bought it), but that could be a problem because I steam hard boiled eggs in the steamer and the timing needs to be precise to ensure they are not overcooked but also not undercooked (our old steamer was digital and I could punch in the exact time and I had steaming eggs down to a science and almost perfect eggs every time). When the timer runs out, there is no indicator signal (our old steamer would beep three times when the timer ran out), and the steamer simply shuts off. There is no tray to catch any food juices that may fall directly into the water reservoir, making cleaning difficult. It takes an exorbitant amount of time to reach the proper steaming temperature (approximately 5 to 7 minutes). I won't have a rice bowl, but I'll use a Pyrex glass bowl instead, so it won't be a big deal. br>To summarize, I haven't decided whether or not to return the steamer because I haven't put it through its paces enough. We still have our old steamer, which works fine, but my wife insisted on buying a new one because the cord on the old one is fraying a little (she's afraid I'll leave the room and it'll burn the house down), and the heating element appears to be burnt from so much use. I'm debating whether to keep both steamers and use the old one solely for steaming eggs, or just use this one and try to perfect steaming eggs with a manual timer once more. br>By the way, if you like hard-boiled eggs and have never tried steaming them in your food steamer, you should! Making hard boiled eggs in this manner is the simplest and most efficient method available. Simply place the eggs in the steamer for about 20 minutes, then remove them quickly and place them in a bowl filled with ice cubes and water to stop the cooking process.

Although it steams well, it is poorly prepared
3/5

Let me begin with the positive aspects of the situation. The product is simple to use and steams well. Now for the bad news. I read reviews of this product and the digital version of the same product before purchasing it, and I noticed several complaints about poorly made handles and other issues, but I decided to give it a shot. In the 19 days I had the product, I used it three times and it worked perfectly. However, after the third use, the handle broke. When I removed the lid from the pot, the plastic top handle literally broke apart. The screw was not broken. The plastic had simply disintegrated. As you can see in the photos. The top of the cover that broke is shown in the first photo. The same part is flipped over in the second image. The serrations where the plastic broke can be seen. The part from which the lid broke apart is shown in the third photo, and the fourth photo is a close-up of the third. br>br>Once again, the steamer performs admirably. The parts of the lid made of plastic are flimsy. I would recommend getting if you aren't concerned about the lids and handles breaking. If, on the other hand, having properly functioning lids and handles is important to you - "Caveat Emptor," as the saying goes.

It is simple to operate and is a good size for a family of four
5/5

Secura 2- is a better alternative to plastic steamers. The Tier Food Stainless Steel Steamer is a far superior product. It's the perfect size, plus it's simple to clean and long-lasting. When the price drops, I'm going to buy another one.

What a let down! I switched to steaming in an electric steamer with a cut-off switch after frequently burning my vegetables on the stovetop. When I first saw this steamer, I was excited to replace my old plastic steamer with something more attractive. My old plastic steamer has become opaque and has a darkish hue all over it. To be honest, I was disappointed with how shoddy this metal steamer turned out. What an embarrassment! Mineral scale has formed on the water container after only one use. I cleaned it right away by boiling it in vinegar and water for 50 minutes. The stains were still visible. This metal isn't acting like the rest of my stainless steel cookware! Furthermore, the lid is incompatible with both baskets. Only one of them can wear it comfortably. Cleaning the baskets is simple if you do so quickly and do not allow the food to dry out. The feature that I like the most is that it automatically shuts off after you set the timer for 25 minutes for spinach and 40 minutes for cauliflower. The old steamer with the rusted heating element needed to be thrown out. At the very least, the heating element is not in direct contact with the water in this case. The only reason I haven't returned this steamer is because it's made of stainless steel, which I despise!.

This is the third time we've received one
5/5

This steamer is a huge hit with us. Over the years, Secura has tweaked the design a little. For the past eight years, we've used a Secura electric steamer almost every day. After a few years, they'll stop working, so we'll just buy another. We use it more than the average person, so purchasing a new one every three or four years is well worth the money. It's a fantastic, simple, and nutritious way to prepare food. Beans, broccoli, and carrots are some of the vegetables that we use. All of our vegetables are cooked in it most nights. It's great for reheating chicken because it doesn't dry it out like a microwave would, and it cooks salmon perfectly. It is something I strongly suggest.

This device is fantastic! It has a lot of storage space and is simple to use
5/5

In terms of functionality - It's fantastic. If you don't use a lot of water, it starts up quickly and produces excellent results. The handles are large and sturdy enough that you can lift the top rack while removing the bottom loaded rack with one hand.
