Questions & Answers

Is there a rice cooker bowl included?

Yes, the bottom tier has a clear plastic bowl that fits inside. I use it all the time to cook rice, and it's fantastic.

Do I always use a drip tray when cooking rice or other foods?

The top trays will not fit unless you say yes - It also protects the heating element and collects juice from vegetables, meats, and other foods that can be used in soups and sauces.

Is it possible to remove one of the tiers and replace it with a single larger steaming container?

If I understand your question correctly, the answer is no; however, you can remove one tier and steam the other half of the stack. The tiers are evenly spaced and stacked.

What a marvel appliance! I don't know how I ever cooked before I had this wonder device; it's a game-changer
5/5

changer! It's simple to use, steams a large amount of food quickly, and cleans up quickly. This thing is a lifesaver for me when it comes to meal prepping (cooking all of your meals on one day per week). I understand that steam cooking is based on the same concept (hot steam cooks your food), but for whatever reason, the design of this appliance cooks the food much more evenly than a stovetop basket steamer. I've cooked almost every type of vegetable in it and it's always turned out perfectly; the cooking times are sometimes a little longer or shorter than the manual indicates, so there's some trial and error involved, but once you find the right time for the type of food you're cooking, you'll hit the jackpot. I also use it to steam eggs - They turn out much better than if you boil them for an extended period of time. Peeling is a lot easier, and the food cooks more evenly. I've also cooked meat in it, though I found seasoning the meat to be difficult, so I haven't used it for that purpose very often. I strongly advise you to buy this steamer if you have the space in your kitchen. Every week, I make use of it!.

Vegetables steam beautifully in this pot
5/5

For over two decades, I've relied on Oster steamers. Only for steaming vegetables do I use it on a daily basis. My previous one was a smaller round version, which worked fine but didn't hold as much and took longer to reach steam temperature and total cooking time; for the small price difference, I recommend this unit over the smaller one unless storage space is a concern. The steamer is well-made, simple to use, and requires little maintenance. It includes two stackable steamer trays, so it can handle a large amount of steaming. Because of the water quality, the heating element may develop white crusting after a number of uses, but this is easily cleaned by heating it up with white vinegar. I would advise caution when removing the cover because you will be exposed to a burst of hot steam. By removing the cover toward you and shielding yourself from the steam, this can be avoided. I would strongly suggest it. I hope you found this review to be informative.

Cooking vegetables in a different way
5/5

At our house, we eat a lot of vegetables. Every meal includes some sort of vegetable, but preparing them was a bit hit-or-miss. I dislike boiled carrots because they become soggy, and the broccoli would easily become overcooked. br>br>I bought this steamer after my daughter recommended it to me. It's fantastic. Veggies were added by me - Set the timer for whatever vegetables you want to cook: broccoli, cabbage, carrots, Brussels sprouts, etc. My perfectly steamed vegetables will be ready when dinner is finished. I can steam multiple types of vegetables at once by simply arranging them in the steamer. It's simple, and my vegetables are no longer soggy. I haven't tried it with fish yet, but my daughter claims it is equally effective. Because not everyone wants their vegetables cooked to the same degree of doneness, there is a learning curve with the timer. The chart that comes with the steamer is a good place to start, and we've learned to cook them for a minute or two less because we prefer them crispier. In the spring, I can't wait to harvest my asparagus and snap peas. When it comes to Brussels sprouts, I cut large ones in half and cook small ones whole to ensure that everything cooks evenly. It's easy to clean. br>br> I simply wash it under warm running water and run the parts that come into contact with food through the dishwasher (top shelf) once a week. It used to be in my pantry, but it's now on the counter next to the toaster oven and coffee maker. It's something I use on a daily basis. br>br>Instead of using an electronic timer, I chose a mechanical timer, which works perfectly. It's quite accurate and precise. This is something I really enjoy. It's the most useful small appliance I've purchased in a long time.

a hundred and one applications "Make a note of it and put it out of your mind!" I was hesitant to buy a food steamer because I have a family of picky veggie eaters and assumed that this would be the only use for this machine; however, after reading previous reviews on this product, I decided to buy it anyway because the price was right and I figured I could at least use it as a rice cooker
5/5

I started by putting some flavored rice mix and cut up raw chicken in the steamer's rice bowl and turning it on. It came out just right! This machine can reheat leftovers, steam ANYTHING, and cook hard-boiled eggs. The possibilities are endless, and it has quickly become a kitchen staple! A word of caution: BE CAREFUL WHEN OPENING THE STEAMER AFTER COOKING! I was a little too eager and ended up with a nasty steam burn! br>br>It's also very simple to clean (I put it in the top rack of the dishwasher), quiet, and long-lasting. A must-have for any kitchen!.

Continue to steam
5/5

We've been steaming for a long time; the trick is to find a dependable unit. I've never had success with digital timers, so I always use mechanical timers. We purchased the round Oster some time ago, but it developed a crack near the heating element, making it unsafe to use. I just got this new one, and it's fantastic. It has plenty of storage space and a variety of cooking options. I cooked a large acorn squash, a whole onion, and fish. To test my limits, I made Thai sticky rice, which required four hours of soaking before draining the water and cooking for 75 minutes in a small rice bowl (two cups). I wasn't sure it would work, but it did, and if you enjoy steaming as much as we do, I think you'll find this unit useful. I give it a five-star rating.

This steamer is fantastic
5/5

This is by far the best steamer on the market. It cooks vegetables to perfection and even hard boiled eggs to perfection! I adore this steamer so much that I bought one for my parents, who are equally enamored with theirs!.

Love it! I haven't opened the package because I'm still using my old one, which is of the same brand and model
5/5

I had two other ones before the one I'm using now; They last about a year, but I use it every day, so I suppose that's why they wear out. I had a second one that was digital, but I preferred the mechanical one. I wanted to get a new one because my old one was getting old and was approaching a year and a half in age; If it doesn't work, I don't want to be without one. This steamer is one of my favorites. Steaming vegetables, potatoes, rice, and hard "boil" eggs is a breeze!.
