Maverick HC-01 Hero Electric Hot-Dog Steamer, White

This was purchased for my grandmother as a present. She enjoys hotdogs and eats them on a weekly basis, despite the fact that she is 91 years old. I was worried she wouldn't be able to use it, but it's no more difficult than using a microwave; the key is to listen for the barking and avoid the hot steam.

It is well-made. br>Very appealing. br>Easy to clean. br>I would strongly suggest it. When the timer runs out, the dog barks.

I've tried both fat sausages and skinny hot dogs, and they've all turned out well once I figured out the right water ratios for my taste. br>I live at 6800 feet above sea level on Colorado Springs' north side, and at this altitude, you need to use more water to ensure the hot dogs or sausages are fully heated. I ended up using the included measuring cup plus half again to get what I consider to be properly and thoroughly heated results. br>I really like how the interior tray is set up to steam the hot dogs while also catching any juices and oils that may run off - It helps to keep the unit clean and, in my opinion, prevents any build-up. On the heating element, it's a good idea to put your hands up. br>Overall, for its basic purpose, and after learning how much water to use, it produces a consistently cooked hot dog or sausage with minimal cleanup.

It takes about 60 seconds to heat up the water and get steam going, and my first review was incorrect because I said 6 minutes, which is closer to the time it takes to steam cook the hotdogs. Great steamer at a reasonable price; however, the instructions state that you must unplug the steamer to turn it off.

Except for the bark, I absolutely adore it. I'm not sure what the noise is, but it's most definitely not a bark. Whatever the case may be- It let the kids know that their hot dogs were done and ready to eat.
