Did you add water to the rice? The usual ratio is 1:3. 5 1 cup rice 1 cup rice 1 cup rice 1 cup rice 1 cup rice 1 cup rice 5 quarts of water Almost any steamer can be used in this way.
Although there is a warm button, the cooking water is hot enough to keep the steam going for another five minutes or so. It's never been a problem to keep food warm. I place the shrimp or whatever meat I've prepared on a plate in the bottom section. So that I don't have to wash another dish, I cover my table with a protective cover and place the upper part of the steamer on it.
I don't know the exact size because I threw away the box, but I usually cook a 3-pound bag of broccoli in one tray with room to spare.

I noticed that when I steamed vegetables, they didn't have the same vibrant color as when I steamed them the traditional way. When I poured out the excess water from the steamer reservoir, I noticed that it had a gray tint to it. Unfortunately, the heating element in this steamer is black metal, which oxidizes over time. When water comes into contact with the heating element, it turns gray, resulting in gray steam! In addition, every time I clean my sponge after use, the metal element and the gasket surrounding it turn it black. I'm curious as to what metal the element is made of, and whether or not it's transferring to the steam. I stopped using it because I didn't think it was a healthy way to steam my food.
LEAKING ON THE COUNTER - br>br> When you use tray 2 without tray 1 underneath it, this is what usually happens. It's inconvenient, but it's easy to avoid. I had another steamer where both trays had a proper seal on the bottom and could be stacked and reversed to fit one inside the other for storage while still in use. That was fantastic, and I'm not sure why they couldn't do the same for these, but it's never a problem as long as you know which tray you're using. CALICIFIED HEATING ELEMENT - CALICIFIED HEATING ELEMENT CALICIFIED HEATING ELEMENT CALICIFIED HEATING ELEMENT CALICI This has happened with every steamer I've owned. This has happened to me before with kettles. It's not a significant issue. Mine still works fine, and if left to dry, it will occasionally shed the excess build up. Attempting to clean my previous one (a different brand) caused more harm than good, so I've left this one alone. MELTING PLASTIC - br>br> I'm not sure how people manage to melt these. Either they're broken or they're overheating. They aren't putting in enough water otherwise. My previous steamer was digital, and when the water level dropped below a certain level, it automatically turned off. Because it's analog, it'll continue to work even after the water has dried up. IF YOU ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN, IT WILL MELTS. br>br>DISCOLORED VEGGIES - This is a steamer that uses analog technology once again. While I can set my digital steamer to exact minutes, this one will always be an estimate. For frozen vegetables, 15 minutes is usually plenty of time. YOUR VEGGIES WILL BE OVERCOOKED IF YOU LEAVE THE STEAMER ON. I'm not sure what you're hoping to get out of this. The drip pan will, in fact, be colored. Overcooking your vegetables will cause them to sweat out some of their natural juice, and this process will be accelerated. If you're new to steamers, you might want to invest in one with digital controls. OVERALL - br>br> This isn't the best steamer I've ever owned, but it's the cheapest, and it's done the job for the past two years. For an analog timer, it's fairly consistent, so as long as you make sure it's set correctly, you should be fine (and I've certainly run it unplugged more than I care to admit).
It was precisely what I had been searching for. I was swapping out a number two. 5 year- The steamer was an old Oster that had finally given up the ghost. Something went wrong the first time I tried to steam some vegetables in it. I noticed a strange melting plastic smell coming from the device near the end of the steaming, and after it had cooled down a bit, I examined it and discovered a slight indentation in the center of the reservoir cover. I attempted to remove the cover in order to look inside, but it is completely stuck to the base and will not budge. Furthermore, the water that had collected in the cover had an oily appearance, which I assumed was due to the melted plastic. In addition, while cooking, the unit left a significant amount of water beneath it. It's back to square one!.
In the water, I added frozen broccoli and shrimp, as well as bay leaves, paprika, and pepper. The aroma of bay leaves was pervasive in the food. Cooking time was approximately 25 minutes.
We were dissatisfied with our purchase. The following are some of the item's drawbacks: 1. br>br> It's extremely difficult to keep the tray in the top basket clean. We only used it once, but despite using a variety of cleaning methods, there are still traces of grease on it (as seen in the photo). 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br The heating component that connects the base to the baskets appears to be corroded, and we are unable to clean it (see photo). 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. The lid is not properly sealed; we can see a slit where it should be closed. This has an impact on the way the steams are released, and we now notice that they are always released smoothly. 4. br>br> The item is ineffective at cooking rice. In spite of what they said in the description, the rice is still not ready after 40 minutes. br>br>We have already found a stainless steel replacement and are extremely dissatisfied with our purchase.
Before using the dish, I made sure to clean it thoroughly with warm soapy water and a damp, clean cloth. After the first use, the heating element in the reservoir's middle was covered in chalky material, and I was only cooking sweet potatoes: (Can you tell me what this stuff is? I'd appreciate it if someone could tell me. Furthermore, I made use of brita- water for the reservoir that has been filtered.
