Questions & Answers

Is it possible to prepare brown rice?

Yes, brown rice can be cooked by adding 1 cup of water to 1 cup of brown rice. 3 (use 3 cups of water for 1 cup of rice). You can soak the brown rice for 1 or 2 hours if you want to, but it's not necessary.

This rice cooker does not have a "timer," as far as I can tell. Is it capable of automatically adjusting for variations in rice/water amounts?

Yes, when you're finished, it will turn off on its own.

Is Teflon a possibility?

Yes. in the guidelines: According to the Instruction Manual, "do not use harsh abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or products that are not considered safe to use on nonstick coatings" when cleaning. I'm guessing it's a Teflon coating of some sort. My previous AROMA rice cooker was plain metal; yours, William, does not have a coating.

Rice cooker with enough capacity for two people - 4 people
5/5

This 7- Cup UNCOOKED rice cooker is exactly what I'm looking for; it's a good size for a rice cooker but doesn't take up too much room from the outside, and it's one I'd recommend if you're cooking for more than one person. I also have a 3 cup UNCOOKED rice cooker, which will spit out the rice if you put too much water in it. Cleaning up the mess is a lot of additional work. For some reason, I believe that a traditional rice cooker can produce far more delectable results than a digital rice cooker. It's also less difficult to maintain. In addition, it has a steamer on top, which saves a lot of space. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with my purchase!.

Aromatic houseware products should be avoided at all costs
3/5

I bought this rice cooker over a month ago and used it three times a week, but it wouldn't work last night when my daughter tried to use it. Seriously, what did I say? I would never buy this product or recommend it to any of my friends or family. Aromatic houseware products should be avoided at all costs. Thankfully, I didn't get rid of my old rice cooker, which is by far the best I've ever had; I bought the aroma houseware product because it looked nice, but I guess that look deceived me into buying it. There will be no more.

This product does not fully cook rice and does not steam it
3/5

I was ecstatic to get this because it would allow me to cook rice quickly without having to babysit. I attempted it THREE times and each time my rice was nowhere near done. And there would be enough water left in it that adding more water, as instructed in the scenarios, would be ineffective. I tried adjusting the amount of water by adding more one time and less the next, but it never worked. It's a bummer that there's no way to keep it on for longer. The cook and warm options are insufficient. Because when it "thinks" it's finished, it automatically switches to warm. I also tried using a steamer to cook my rice, but it failed miserably. I'm not sure if I got a bad one, but after all that excitement, I'm not sure I want to try to exchange it and start over. I had to figure out a way to put something between the warm/cook switch and ensure that it didn't go to warm because it wasn't ready yet. And believe me, I KNOW how to cook any type of rice; I just needed something quick for when I got home late from work.

For a variety of reasons, you should buy a bigger one
4/5

I needed a bigger unit so the rice could expand without breaking the heat seal by pushing up the tray and lid.
- Like my old model, this one hasn't scorched the rice yet, and the teflon peels right off.
- Brown rice requires 17 to 20 minutes of cooking time. This model holds twenty percentage more water than my smaller model.
- Brown rice takes a little longer to cook than white rice.
- The holes in the tray are HUGE; A second tray with small holes should be placed inside the tray to prevent small items from falling into the cooker (see photo).
- The impossible-to-remove sticker on the glass lid is a good example of this. Remove the adhesive (as shown in the image).
- A durable metal hole liner is included in the glass lid. My old, smaller one had a cracked plastic one that fell out and was lost.

It's probably because it's less expensive than dirt, and a better coating could cost the same
4/5

"Well, that depends on what your definition of'is' is," Bill Clinton once said. "It all depends on Aroma's definition of "cup" with this 14-cup rice cooker. Because they define our standard 8 oz cup as "3/4 cup," their 14 cup machine is actually a 10 1/2 cup machine. I'm harping on the "cup" thing because if you use the standard 8 oz cup to measure rice and water in this machine, you'll end up with large clouds of steam and a tsunami all over your counter. As a result, keep Aroma's cup in mind at all times. Should we call it a cuppie or something else? Cuplet? br>br>Apart from that, the machine worked admirably. I did get some rice on the container's sides that was burning. I scraped it into the serving bowl with the rest of the rice and served it. It wasn't so badly burned that it gave the entire batch an off flavor, so I just scraped it into the serving bowl with the rest of the rice and served it. Nobody seemed to notice. br>br>The liner was very easy to clean. It's important to remember to treat those who aren't members of your family with respect. Stick the coating on with care because it is easily scratched. This is a bummer because there are a few non-alcoholic beverages. Why are we blessed with this one when there are so many other stick coatings available? It's probably because it's less expensive than dirt, and a better coating could cost as much as. Add $25 to the unit's price. br>br>For overall performance, I gave this unit four stars. I'd give their engineering department, or whoever is in charge of the coating selection, two stars.

It was fantastic until it stopped being so
3/5

I bought this rice cooker to replace a smaller one that I'd had for a long time. My old one's bottom was severely scratched, so it was time to replace it. This Aroma rice cooker was one of the first things I saw. I made the decision that I needed a nice new large cooker. I've only had it for a month, but I've already used it at least twice. Until last night, it had always cooked rice perfectly. The rice was cooked perfectly, but I kept getting a burning plastic odor while it was cooking. I couldn't pinpoint the source of the noise. When I removed the rice pot from the cooker, I was pleasantly surprised. As I was setting the table, I began sniffing around for the source of the odor. I walked up to the rice cooker and put my hand near it. It was extremely hot, and it was most likely the source of the odor. I disconnected it quickly and didn't think about it again. Tonight, I attempted to use the cooker, but it was inoperable. It smelled like it was burning up last night, according to the smell. I'm not sure what would have happened if I hadn't unplugged it at the appropriate time. br>Because I'm still within Amazon's 30-day return window, I'm going to request a refund and look for a different brand; thank goodness I didn't throw away my old, scratched-up rice cooker. It's back to square one.
