It does not reach a temperature of 425 degrees
3/5

I was ecstatic to finally replace my old George Foreman Grill (which had been sitting in my garage for years). It boasted a larger grilling area and claimed to be smokeless. I'd read one review that said the item didn't heat up properly, but I'd read others that said it did, so you take a chance and hope you get a good review in the end. So, I'm about to write a negative review for the same reason that another person did. The elements do not reach the stated temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit. br>The grill is well-made, with a fantastic removable grill plate that has an old-fashioned nonstick coating. The grease tray can be easily removed and stored beneath the counter for a clean, drip-free surface! It is difficult to measure the smokeless claim, but I believe it states that it reduces up to 2088% of smoke from previous versions. During the cooking process, it continues to smoke. They showed a video that was far from accurate in terms of what happened while cooking two hamburger patties. There was a lot of smoke coming from the back and a little from the sides, as well as grease splatter. The operation is extremely simple. If you just want to fry a burger, turn it on because it's set to the highest temperature of 425 degrees. The lovely red light flashes slowly across the entire lid until it reaches temperature, at which point the red light turns green (as seen in the photos). To repeat, you should have reached the desired temperature by the time you get to green. The temperature was the most serious issue. My old foreman, patty on for 5 minutes, patty done visibly. On this new model, I cooked the patty for 5 minutes without disturbing the cooking item, but when I lifted the lid, the patty did not appear to be fully cooked. When I poked a patty with a fork tine, blood poured out, indicating that it wasn't fully cooked. As a result, I went to get my thermometer. Please look at the photos. br>I thoroughly cleaned my plates, reconnected it, and set the temperature to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. I waited another 5 minutes after the green light indicated that the temperature had been reached before raising the lid to check the temperature. As soon as I lifted the lid, I checked the temperature. The top lid only registers 364 degrees, while the lower lid only registers 360 degrees, as shown in the pictures. In most areas, the lower grill was even lower, and this wasn't consistent throughout the grill. I went over all of the temperature settings, which are in increments of 25 degrees. The temperature was most accurate between 350 and 350 degrees. I say mostly because, while none of them were below the stated temperature, the majority were 10 degrees or more above it. br>I finished by reheating to 425 degrees and then leaving the lid open to see when the grill would detect the cooling and re-engage the heating elements. It took 8 minutes for the display to register heat loss and turn red for reheating after the lid was opened for 8 minutes. br>As a point of comparison, I fired up my trusty old grill. It did, in fact, register 520 degrees. For a refund, I returned the new one. br>br>Overall, the grill is very nice, and I wish companies would pay more attention to quality control. Because George Foreman is such a well-known brand, these products should live up to his reputation.

The product was extremely disappointing!! Can someone please explain why every company that makes a folding counter top grill assumes that anyone who buys one wants any liquid they use to run off the lower grill plate and into a catch cup or pan? When I cook vegetables, I like to use a small amount of water to steam them on the grill plate
3/5

Even this is not possible with this grill. The lower plate is designed with a series of holes in it to drain any liquid or juice that you may wish to use, which you can't tell from the web page photos. Place aluminum foil over the grill plate as your only other option (other than purchasing someone else's product). This is, I suppose, acceptable, but it raises a new issue. What we now know about the dangers of using aluminum foil for cooking is alarming. When aluminum foil is heated, it emits toxic chemicals. It should only be used to store items and to cover food. When the upper plate is lowered onto the lower plate, it fits so tightly that when the upper plate is opened again, it pulls the aluminum foil up and off of the bottom plate, scattering food all over the place. The foil must be cut so that it does not extend past the grill plate's edges. If you don't use aluminum foil, any oil, grease, or water that drips onto the bottom plate will collect in a catch pan. This small catch pan slides in and out of the grill from the right side. My first attempt at lining the catch pan with aluminum foil failed because folding the foil over the catch pan's edges causes the foil to tear apart when attempting to slide the pan back into the grill, causing the pan to jam up in the slide rails. If you want to keep things clean, make a cup out of foil and place it inside the catch tray. The only justification I can think of for such a high price tag on this item is that it is digital. If it wasn't, you'd be looking at a $60 bill. You can grill with your hands. This grill is only worth about $60 in its current state. $75. Isn't this a lovely grill? Yes, that is correct. However, this is about the only aspect of it that I enjoy. Is it easy to prepare? That's correct. However, any grill costing less than $40 will suffice. Is this a grill I want to use? Sort of. Is this a grill that I would recommend? The only thing I'll say is that you should buy it at your own risk because I'm not happy with it. There's something else I'd like to bring up. My old GE grill was great for defrosting frozen foods because the temperature range was low enough. This grill does not go below 325 degrees Fahrenheit. As a result, this grill does not require defrosting. I've now used my new grill twice, and with each poorly designed idea that was crammed into it, I'm growing less fond of it. Pancakes, eggs, and beacon cannot be served on a flat plate. It's clear to me now that this poorly designed product was made for a single purpose. Make a profit. Good day, gluten-free grillers. I've had a thought. Why don't you ask people what kind of grill feature they'd like? As evidenced by reviews inquiring as to why there isn't a flat plate! Improved product design thinking would help a lot. Like a lid that doesn't wobble around in your hand like it's about to fall off, and why did you make the lid so heavy in the first place? When you open it, it feels as if it might fall over backwards. Which leads me to my next point. Why didn't you design the lid to lay flat so that both sides of the grill could be used at the same time if you were going to make the lid so heavy? The question of a flat plate could be easily answered by making the top plate flat and interchangeable with the bottom plate. The fact that one plate is flat cannot possibly complicate the appearance of minor burn lines on one's food. Simply flip what you're cooking over and create any pattern you want. On Tuesday, I'm going to reconnect this grill to the Zom machine for one reason only. There isn't a flat plate on it at all. I don't mind spending some time learning the ins and outs of a new kitchen tool, but this design could be a lot better. This grill can only be used for one thing.

This was a huge let down! This GF was supposed to be used, I thought
3/5

br>The top was cumbersome and heavy. br>It also had a tendency to slide as I raised or lowered the lid. I can't begin to tell you how much I despised this Foreman grill. And I've been using them since they first came out, and I've always been pleased with them.
