Questions & Answers

Is it possible to get a good crema layer on espresso with this method?

Yes, it produces a fantastic crema on lungo and espresso.

Between this and the Pixie, there is a significant price difference. Is there anyone who can shed some light on the differences? I'm guessing the capsules are the same?

Because the internals are said to be identical, the espresso should be of comparable quality. Having said that, I prefer the Pixie. External components appear to be of much higher quality, with some metal parts replacing plastic parts. The Pixie is made in Switzerland, whereas the Inissia is made in China or Romania. The Pixie's design appeals to me more, but that is purely a matter of taste. Finally, the Pixie is 3/4" taller than the Inissia, allowing it to fit my Nespresso travel mug. I'd go with the Pixie if the difference in price is less than $30. It becomes more difficult to make a decision above that point. Because the prices of these vary a lot, I was able to get the Pixie for a similar price to the Inissia.

Is this still worth it now that capsules are 70 cents per capsule, plus $7 shipping since 2011 ? It's nearly as much as a cup of coffee at Starbucks. ?

It is contingent on the following: br>1) The number of capsules you purchase. If we go to the other extreme and buy only 10 capsules, each capsule will cost you 70 cents plus 70 cents for shipping, for a total of $1. 40$. The price drops to 70 7=77 cents if you purchase 100 capsules. Furthermore, if you buy 200 capsules, I believe shipping is free. br>2) How important is it to you to have your coffee at home? I enjoy going to a coffee shop on occasion, but not _having_ to go when I am working in my office, for example, is extremely valuable to me. br>3) For a fraction of the price, some brands sell capsules labeled as Nespresso compatibles. My first encounter with a Spanish company was a positive one. I still need to try a Canadian brand.br>I hope this information aids you in your decision-making process;

Is cleaning a breeze? (Please specify) Are there any parts that can be washed in the dishwasher?

There isn't much to clean within the machine itself. As excess coffee from the empty capsules accumulates on the tray, it will need to be rinsed. After each use, the frother should be cleaned, but it is not dishwasher safe. It's as simple as using hot water and a few drops of liquid detergent.

The result is a caffeine-fueled frenzy
5/5

a coffee connoisseur's remark UPDATE. I've spent my entire life looking for new coffees and coffee-related products. While attempting to satisfy my caffeine addiction, I even ground my own beans. The Nespresso Inissia, on the other hand, raises the bar even higher. br>br>Of course, the variety of tasty and convenient coffee pods is a plus, but the ease and speed with which I can make my favorite brew makes the Inissia a winner. Fill the tank with water, place a pod inside, and press the button. Warm up for 20 seconds, then brew for about 30 seconds, and you've got yourself a perfect shot of Joe. They come with a variety pack of 16 pods to get you started. A few were abrasive enough to remove enamel from my teeth, and a few had strange flavors, but the majority were delicious. NOTE: Keep the "Coffee Menu" booklet handy to figure out which coffees are available. If you don't mark your favorites as you go, you'll be overwhelmed. The Inissia is well-built and has a small footprint. When you pick it up, you'll notice that it's made of heavy gauge steel and has a nice plastic skin on it. The steel handle/bale and tough plastic parts appear to be long-lasting. br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product. 1. br>br> The directions are a jumble of non-sequiturs. Ikea instructions look easy thanks to a jumble of sketches, arrows, and oddball "directions" in the text. I have an engineering background, but I didn't even try to figure this out; The graphic designer should be arrested and charged with a crime. I recommend watching the professional-looking videos on YouTube. 2. br>br>1. br>br>br>br>br>br Nespresso pods are neither cost-effective nor environmentally friendly, in my opinion. (Although it's quite tasty-) I do it all of the time with them). I bought a few Sealpod Stainless Steel Refillable Pods and fill them with my favorite Espresso Marco Polo. They perform admirably. 3. br>br>4. br>br>5. br>br>6. When the Inissia is brewing, it makes a lot of noise. It doesn't bother me, but it could wake up someone nearby who is sleeping. Despite these minor flaws, the Nespresso Inissia receives a five-star rating. I'll update this review as soon as I have a problem. br>br>UPDATE: br>br> The "double-edged sword" The "tap" method is effective. I read another reviewer's comment and confirmed that you can press one button twice and walk away, allowing the Inissia to heat up and brew the coffee while you're gone. Congratulations on stumbling across this previously unknown feature!.

Excellent Espresso at a Reasonable Price
5/5

I'm using my previous review for the Inissia alone, and adding a new review for the Aeroccino Plus at the bottom, because I own and have previously reviewed the Inissia separately. [Original Inissia Review]br>br>[Original Citiz Review]br>br>[Original Citiz Review]br>br>[Original Inissia Review]br>br>[Original Citiz Review]br>br>[Original Citiz Review]br>br>[Original Citiz Review]br>br>[Original Citiz Review]b In terms of quality and construction, the Inissia is comparable to the Citiz and currently costs about $70 less. br>br>The Inissia is a well-made compact. It's simple to operate and produces excellent espresso. The water heats up just as quickly as the Citiz, which has been about 25 seconds so far, allowing you to get your coffee fix quickly in the morning. br>br>I like that the water reservoir detaches like the Citiz, but unlike the Citiz, the lid on the water reservoir is a flip lid that is attached to the container. Also, while the expended pod catch container isn't as flashy as the Citiz's, it's just as functional, and because it's all black, it doesn't show coffee staining as much as the Citiz's clear and light plastics do. br>br>The dripping is the only issue I've had with the Inissia. Unless you need to fit a bigger cup during brewing, I recommend leaving the drip tray down at all times. The Inissia can drip for a long time after you've finished brewing, and when I had it set up at my desk, it started dripping a lot of water hours after I'd finished a drink. It's an annoyance, but not a major one, given that the drip tray connects to a sizable water catch reservoir beneath the expended pod catch. Excess water and used pods are simple to remove and dispose of. br>br>I am happy with my purchase for the price ($99). Despite the dripping, it makes a fantastic cup of espresso and is quick and simple to make. For me, a five-star espresso machine at this price point would not have the dripping problem. It did, however, come at a price of approximately $. 75 cents per shot vs. $2. 50 You'll spend $00 in a coffee shop. Because the machine will be used by a variety of people on a regular basis, I'll update this review after it has been used for a while. For the time being, I can confidently recommend this product because of its low price and high quality coffee. br>br>[UPDATE to original Inissia Review]br>br>After owning and using the Inissia on a daily basis for over 6 months, I wanted to update my review. The machine has held up admirably to daily use by a large number of people, and it consistently produces my morning cup of espresso. [Aeroccino Plus Review]br>br>[Aeroccino Plus Review]br>br>[Aeroccino Plus Review]br>br>[Aeroccino Plus Review]br>br>[Aeroccino Plus Review]br>br>[Aeroccino Plus Review]br>br I like how the mixer is attached with magnets, and I like that there are two different mixers. For a lot of froth, one whisk is included, and for light froth to no froth, a mixer is included. br>br>The procedure is very straightforward. You fill the container with milk, cover it with the lid, and press the button. After that, it quietly warms and froths the milk, and it does so quickly. I'm not familiar with other frothers, but this one appears to do a good job while being quick and quiet. It's also fairly simple to maintain. I'm concerned about some appliances because they'll be used less if they're difficult to clean. The frother is almost as easy to clean as a standard cup, I believe, in part because of the magnetic mixer and water proof construction. br>br>It works surprisingly well, and considering that a milk frother costs around $60 on its own, this package appears to be a good deal if you really want one. I've only used skim milk so far, and I wasn't sure it'd be able to froth it properly, but it warmed and frothed it beautifully. Also, while I haven't tried almond milk myself, I have seen videos online of people successfully frothing the two main varieties of almond milk. br>br>It's well-designed, relatively simple to clean, and it works well. If you enjoy cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiatos, the Nespresso Inissia with Aeroccino Plus Frother is an excellent value at around $115.

This was purchased following a brief hospital stay during which caffiene was recommended for pain relief. It actually works, so I figured that if black coffee works, espresso would be even better. My prediction was correct, and I use this machine on a daily basis. Or at least that's how I felt for the first five months of ownership. br>br>The issues began when it refused to turn off. After that, it began to fail to produce the requested amount. It would produce far less before turning around and producing far too much. When I requested the large cup, it simply continued to brew until the cup was overflowing. The tank began to leak after that. This machine was not mistreated or moved. It made its way from the shipping box to the kitchen counter, where it remained for quite some time. br>br>I spent a lot of money on these expensive pods and mixed them in with some green tea pods. Now I have to keep an eye on the machine to make sure it doesn't overflow onto the counter. I'll keep babysitting it until the pods run out of energy, and then I'll be done with it. br>br>For the price, I suppose 5 months of continuous intended use is acceptable, but I am disappointed.
