These don't have a lot of tang to them. Rada MFG will, however, replace it if it ever pulls out of the handle. I've been selling these for over 15 years and have only ever seen the blade come out of the handle once. That particular knife was an early prototype of the SSR version.
No, it's only serrated on one side, but it's the best knife I've ever owned, and I have four.
This knife is razor-sharp, and it could slice through any vegetable I can think of. Because I don't want to dull it, I only use it for tomatoes. It's a little too long to be a pairing knife, but I use it all the time when making sweet/sour cocktail mixtures. I quickly (and I mean quickly) cut half-way through lemons and limes, allowing my juicer to extract more juice. This is a purchase that you will enjoy.
Both sides of the serrated cutting edge are the same - The knife's top edge isn't serrated, obviously. The sharp, pointed end of the knife is ideal for coring out the stem of a tomato or hulling strawberries. My friend told me that she used the knife I gave her for Christmas to slice hard boiled eggs and that it was fantastic, so I started cutting my Thomas English muffins in half with it. That's exactly what it's for. The knife was a hit with everyone I gave it to for Christmas.

These knives were being sold by one of the vendors, and I purchased one. My wife gave me a disapproving stare. The look. It was, after all, only $5. The cost is $5. It sat at my house for a while after I brought it home. She wasn't going to use that stupid knife because I like tomatoes and she doesn't. I used it on my tomatoes and it worked like a charm; I was overjoyed, but my mother was not. br>br>Then, one day, it was time to prepare some jalapenos for Taco Tuesday, and this knife found its way into my wife's hands. br>br>Seriously, she's used it almost every day since then. It's never been sharpened, and it still cuts tomatoes, jalapenos, fresh baked buns, brick cheese, and midnight pickles like a dream. br>br>Made in the USA, built to last, and it just might make your spouse love you even more. br>br>Recent changes - So, I noticed that this item has a verified purchase. I did, in fact, purchase one from Amazon not long ago. We bought a second home last year, and one of the first things we bought for the new place was one of these Amazon knives. They're really good.
For the dinner table, it is my husband's favorite knife. I use it to cut open buns, muffins, and English muffins, as well as anything else that benefits from the serrated edge and sharp point. I bought a few to give as presents.
I'm also picky about the utensils I use in the kitchen. After all, if you're going to spend that much time working with food, you're going to want the best tools possible (within reason). br>br>My wife and I enjoy fresh tomatoes, and any experienced cook knows that cutting through the skin of a tomato presents a unique set of challenges for kitchen knives. A ripe tomato should not be bruised or mashed. You want something that will slice the skin with ease every time. br>br>I used this type of knife at a friend's house and was pleasantly surprised at how much better it was than my own tomato knife. I immediately returned home and placed an order for two of these on Amazon. Love it. br>br>One suggestion I would make is to hand wash this knife; I already do so with all of our cutting, slicing, and chopping knives, so this isn't an issue for me. If you're looking for a dishwasher, however, you'll have to look elsewhere. If you're looking for a friendly knife, you might want to consider something else.
Someone said it wouldn't hold up in the dishwasher, but I wouldn't put a knife in the dishwasher, so that isn't an issue. I'll look into their other knives because I'm impressed with the sharpness and cool look of the knife; I don't know how long it will last because other customers rave about it; I've only had it for a few weeks. Unbelievably low price for such a well-made knife; I love it!.
I've been using Rada paring knives for years due to their low price, and I'm excited to use the serrated Tomato Slicing Knife to finish off the garden tomatoes this season. It's a lot better than using Rada paring knives to cut tomatoes. The bright silver handles, as well as the blades, become dull over time, so I simply replace them. I'll try something else if someone suggests a better option for this price. For the time being, however, I am completely content.
That's right, it's razor-sharp. It glides over tomato and human skin with ease. It's double hollow ground, so it cuts straight and doesn't have any bias. Actually, it isn't picky about what it cuts; it's a great knife, but use it with caution. Because it has an aluminum handle, it should not be washed in the dishwasher. It must be washed by hand. So, whatever you do, don't drop it in a muddy sink and try to find it. It'll be at the very bottom of the page. I've been expecting you.
Normally, I prefer to use a chef knife for all of my cutting, with the exception of using my paring knife, bread knife, or meat cleaver. I'm not a fan of large knife sets, and I'm even less fond of knives designed for a single purpose. They are typically unnecessary, and it is preferable to simply keep your chef's knife sharp and perfect your technique. This knife, however, is an outlier. br>br>It's only good for tomatoes, small peppers, and other delicate foods, but it's ideal for them, and it's much more comfortable than a big bread knife on a ripe tomato. The small blade gives you more control, and the blade's thinness allows for better slices. br>br>The wide serrated edges smush, tear, and bruise even the ripest tomatoes. It keeps its clarity for a long time. You can't go wrong with this one for under ten dollars. br>br>When using this knife for the first time, be cautious because the blade is short and pointy at the tip. You might nick yourself with the tip if you're slicing quickly and only paying attention to avoid cutting your finger with the blade. Take your time getting used to the technique because it's a little different than any other knife.
Wow. It's a fantastic little knife, and it does a fantastic job with soft tomatoes. To be honest, I use it for a variety of other fruits and vegetables as well. It's razor-sharp, with a very effective serrated edge, and it feels great in my hand.
