Questions & Answers

Is it possible to can with an Instant Pot?

Even the most expensive electric pressure cookers can be used for canning. The science is extremely elementary. You do realize that this is just a legal issue with instant marijuana, right? Isn't it true that on high, instant pots operate between 11 and 13 psi? The pressure used to can meat varies between 10 and 15 psi. Everything is in order. A pressure cooker is what it is.

Are you satisfied with the 3 quart size, or would you prefer the 6 quart size?

I've had my 6 quart Duo for over a year and have been very pleased with it. Because IP does not make a 2 quart, I passed on the Mini 3 quart and purchased a 2 quart Cosori. which I adored and frequently used. I'm going to get the IP Mini 3 qt now. I am only one adult, but all three sizes have their uses as long as you can afford to own more than one. One thing to keep in mind is that the 3 quart has a lot more accessories than the 2 quart. What is there not to like about this? Both are available for purchase.

There is no water mark for rice in the pot, so how do you make rice?

The older IPs, like a rice cooker, have water markings for rice cooking (mine, for example - see below). The older ones do (bought in 2016), but the newer ones don't because people were perplexed and didn't know what it was supposed to be. As a result, the markings were eliminated by IP. The Instant Pot, on the other hand, is still a great way to cook rice - You'll have to experiment with time and rice-to-water ratios because not everyone enjoys rice in the same way. Use the IP's small plastic cup (the same type that comes with rice cookers) to measure rice and water. Use the "rice" setting for white rice, and the "pressure cook" setting for all kinds of brown rice. I prefer my rice moist and soft, so I cook brown rice with 1 cup rice and 2 cups water for 22 minutes.

Customer service is a disaster! I was enamored with my instant pot and proudly boasted about it to everyone
3/5

It was a breeze to prepare my dog's food. I added the food and water, set the pressure cooker to high, and it beeped when it was almost done. It didn't take long for me to adjust to the increased pressure. It was simple to operate. Until the week before last, that is. I couldn't get my pot to turn on! I tried different outlets and different electronics to make sure it wasn't the outlet. Nothing happened after I switched the pot to a different outlet. It had something to do with the pot. The troubleshooting instructions in the manual were specific to the problem. It said that if the circuit board didn't turn on, the circuit board had blown, and that I should contact support, which I did. When you call, you'll hear an automated message telling you to go online and submit a ticket. Because this is clearly a business that does not want to bother 'talking' to its customers. As a result, I carry on. There was no response a day later! As a result, I send another email, this time requesting assistance. This time, I send them the same information via email. It wasn't until Friday that I received a response from them! On Tuesday, I required the repair of my pot. On Thursday, however, I'd had enough and called Amazon, who, thankfully, knows how to treat customers and was able to refund me for the product, which I returned to them. After all, the pot had only been purchased for a year and was still under warranty! Even Amazon was unable to contact the company due to a lack of communication! br>br>Beware of this brand; I'd look for a different pressure cooker because if it breaks, which it will, you won't be able to get help for days. br>br>For some reason, Amazon blocked my first attempt to post this review. It should be posted, though, so that people are aware of the nature of the business.

DANGER
3/5

Despite the fact that I know this is a good product, I tried to cook food on my first run, and 15 minutes later, the entire machine was in flames. The smell of burnt plastic quickly filled my kitchen and house. While the machine was turned on, sparks could be seen coming from the bottom. I turned the machine over to inspect the counter after quickly unplugging it. What would have happened if it caught fire or exploded in my face, I wonder? It sounded as if it was about to happen. As you can see, the plastic melted and spilled all over my counter, which was difficult to clean off, as were my tainted hands. The machine's bottom and remaining wires were a bright, scolding red. I soiled the kitchen towels and had to shower again before heading to work. Due to the ordeal I had to go through, I was running late. I was forced to eat out with my wife because I had squandered the food that was about to be amazing that was being prepared. Worst of all, as I type this, the machine spontaneously bursts into flames. So, what am I supposed to do now? This thing is just going to smolder if it isn't plugged in. This is a terriblleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

This appliance is ideal for Tiny Living
5/5

This is something I use on a daily basis. What did I do before I had this? br>br>I am a full-time resident of a Sprinter van. I used to cook with an induction burner, but I haven't used it since I got this little gem! br>br>It's incredibly simple to use, and it's the ideal size for one or two people. I've been making a lot of stews lately, and I'll saute the onions, carrots, and meat (if I'm using meat) first, then add everything else, seal it, and cook it on high pressure for 7 minutes. I let it naturally release and always end up with a perfectly cooked, tasty meal, which serves 4 to 5 people. br>br>The other day, I also quickly soaked beans by covering them in water and pressing the pressure cooker for 5 minutes. I'll often make dinner right after I reheat my lunch, and make sure the keep warm function is turned on. br>br>I'll often make dinner right after I reheat my lunch, and make sure the keep warm function is turned on. I can drive with it in my sink and come home to a hot, healthy, tasty meal. br>br>I've even used it to bake banana bread! Because I don't own an oven, this is extremely exciting. It was fantastic! I took one of the containers and the lid from my To-Do list and put them together. To bake it on the rack, use a Go Ware stainless steel lunch container. br>br>It's very easy on my solar system because this cooks so quickly. I can reheat leftovers in 4 minutes on the saute setting, and it only draws 67 degrees Fahrenheit. br>br>I used to have a VitaClay, which I loved for making beans and, especially, bone broth, but it takes a long time to cook and is much heavier. So, when compared to the Instant Pot Mini, there is more battery drain, more storage space, and more weight, and the Mini wins on all counts!.

FAILURE ON A MAJOR LEVEL
3/5

This pot was made to be inactive. The pressure indicating valve's surface area is insufficient for steam pressure to lift the valve's weight. As a result, the valve remains open, and the pot simply boils away the liquid inside, without creating any pressure. Once the pot starts to make steam, the "solution" is to manually pull the indicating valve up into a sealed position with some sort of implement. If you don't do this, the valve will not lift and seal, and the water will boil away. It's important to note that this isn't the result of a clogged valve, a stuck valve, a lack of liquid, or any other malfunction. Rather, it's built right into the pot. Ours will be relegated to stock pot duty after we discovered that it is completely useless as a pressure cooker.

I'm extremely disappointed! It's been a year since I've worked! The light is turned on, but there isn't any warmth
3/5

I called customer service and was told that if the warranty was over a year old, I would have to purchase a new pot base, which would cost nearly the same as the entire cooker. I was very disappointed!.
