Questions & Answers

Heritage Stoneware 12-Piece Set by Le Creuset Is the Inch Covered Rectangular Dish made in France or China?

Yes, China produces the stoneware. Only the cookware (pots, pans, and skillets) are designed and manufactured in France. The stoneware, on the other hand, is of exceptional quality. Last year, I gave this to my wife as a gift, and we've used it a lot since then with no cracking, pitting, or baked-on residue issues. In the future, my wife would like to have more stoneware.

I'm curious about the depth of this frying pan. I'm thinking of making lasagna with it. ?

They come up with a new one, number twelve. 5 x 8. I have 5 and use them to make lasagne. It's about 3" deep and works well for a variety of layers.

Is it possible to bake with the lid on?

for sure.

Can this be used to bake an Oven Roasted Chicken?

The pan is certainly large enough to bake a chicken in.

I had high hopes for this one
3/5

I was planning on giving this to my. I had high hopes for a pan that cost $100. I intended to give this to my MIL for her birthday, but it arrived crooked, and the top wouldn't even sit properly in the pan, wobbling back and forth. For less than $100, I can buy two complete 20-piece Pyrex sets. Better quality control is required by Amazon and Le Creuset.

Poorly made - Unsafe and distorted
3/5

The product was dangerous to use when it arrived, with significant warping in the pan's body and finish flaws. While some variation in fired stoneware is to be expected, the level deviations rendered the product unusable due to an ill-fitting lid. This was a huge let down. I'm hoping that the replacement is of higher quality and more in line with the rest of my Le Crueset collection.

One Feature I'd Never Considered For the past 25 years, I've relied on my mother's Corningware casserole dishes
4/5

The glass lids on the larger baking dishes, by the way, never fit snugly and would fall off with the slightest tilt, and the old Corningware was not microwaveable - The food, on the other hand, did not become too hot. I've developed a passion for cooking since retiring last year. Cooking is a lot more fun when you have the time to enjoy it! This Le Creuset Stoneware dish is both beautiful and functional, unlike my old casseroles. But it was the un-expected feature that caught me off guard. The dish's bottom is enameled. Heavy casserole dishes have literally slid out of my one-quart casserole dish. When opening the refrigerator door, use an armed grip. This dish has a rough bottom that makes it very easy to hold. I'd give it five stars if it weren't for the fact that it was manufactured in China. To support workers' rights over sweatshops, I try to buy American or European products. I mistook myself for a Frenchman when I made my purchase. Sadly, this was not the case.

When baking in the oven, it broke in half
3/5

When it spontaneously cracked in half in the oven after only a few uses, I was surprised. The oven was set to 450 degrees, and the dish had never been frozen and had never been exposed to extreme temperature changes. I contacted the company because these products are supposed to come with a warranty, but I was told that I would have to ship this extremely heavy dish and lid back to them at my own expense, and they would assess the damage to see if I was eligible for the warranty. According to online reviews, it appears that this would be a waste of time and money, as many people claim that they were told that they had somehow misused the product and were therefore not eligible for the warranty. I asked the company representative if I could bring the broken dish into a Le Creuset store, but she said no, that no one in a Le Creuset store would be able to assist me. At this point, I'm just going to throw out this monstrosity and swear I'll never buy another Le Creuset dish.

The product arrived deformed, and the lid does not close securely
3/5

The product arrived deformed, and the lid does not close securely. I ordered a replacement, which is identical to the original. It appears that Amazon is no longer concerned with quality. Both the original and the replacement are shown in the photos.

I'm let down
3/5

I gave it to my wife for her birthday because she has always been a fan of Le Creuset. While baking our Saturday lunch, she was only able to cook on it four or five times before it cracked. I'm stunned that this has happened to arguably the most well-known baking stoneware brand.

For the price, better quality control is required, but this is a fantastic, heavy-duty stoneware dish
3/5

The lid wobbles like a shaky restaurant table, which is my main gripe. My lid rocks around and doesn't fit well when placed on the dish. I don't think it's worth the money for the price.

Excellent aesthetics, long-lasting durability, and ease of maintenance
5/5

Le Creuset has produced yet another high-quality product. The construction is sturdy enough to withstand the wear and tear of daily kitchen use. It's a breeze to clean this dish. There are no flaws in the enamel finish (inside or out). If you want to bake and serve in the same dish, this is a great option. There are a few things to keep in mind: The bottom is not enameled (use a mat to protect your counters and tables from scratches), and the heavy lid may require extra baking time if used. In comparison to other covered baking methods, the internal temperature of your dish will rise more slowly.
