The pie volume is identical to that of the older model 9 1/2" fluted rim pie plates. However, the issue I have with these new ones is that they take up too much space due to the extra wide rim - Especially in the oven, but also in storage. I can fit two pies on the rack in my oven (without touching each other or the oven sides) with the old style deep dish 9 1/2". With the new wide rim model, this is no longer the case. If you're baking a lot of pies, this will cut down on the amount of time it takes to bake each one.
The dish portion, where the pie filling would go, is 5 inches in diameter; the lip that extends beyond that is 11 inches in diameter. The lip has a good amount of weight to it.
That is something I am unaware of. FFP was not an option when I purchased mine. As long as the large number is 9, I can say that. If you give me a score of 5, I'll take it. These are fantastic.
It appears that your order was messed up. Two plates were supposed to be given to you. Either the seller or Amazon would be my first port of call.

Thankfully, I immediately crossed the kitchen and was not in close proximity to the dish when it exploded moments later. These plates should not be purchased. They can be deadly!.
WITH OUR THANKSGIVING PIE IN IT, a glass pie plate shattered in a 350°F oven. This is the first (and hopefully the last) time you'll use it!.
So scary!.
When I opened my package and tried to put a pie crust in the plate, it exploded all over me. With a loud POP, it shattered glass all over the kitchen and caused a minor cut on my leg. Cleaning it up took a long time. The pie crust stopped the glass from flying upwards, so there was no real harm done. It turned out to be a plate flaw. I would have simply requested a replacement, but there was no option to do so on the "return" page, and no way to contact the seller. I'd buy it again, despite the fact that I understand it was most likely a fluke. However, I would appreciate a free replacement.
When one of my two Pyrex Pie Plates exploded in my oven on Thanksgiving Day, shards of glass shattered the pie it was holding as well as the one below it. My oven needed to be cleaned because there were at least 50 pieces of glass inside. This not only ruined my entirely homemade pumpkin pies, but cleaning the glass shards out of the oven also threw off the rest of the day's cooking. Please see the image attached. br>br>This was only my second use of these pie plates, and I was very pleased with them the first time I used them. The second time, however, I heard a "pop" after both pie plates had been in the oven for over 40 minutes. Much to my dismay, I discovered that the top pie pan had exploded inside the oven, not just cracked or split. My family has enjoyed Pyrex products for decades, and this is the first time I've seen anything like it. I'd heard that if a Pyrex container was quickly moved from one extreme temperature to another, it could "crack or split," but this pie plate had been in the oven for more than 40 minutes. Because the first Pie Plate didn't just crack or split, but actually exploded, I decided to toss the second one out as well, rather than risk a repeat of my Thanksgiving disaster.
br>br>By the way, the size, depth, and width of these are ideal for serving pastas, salads, and other messy foods. It manages to keep everything contained. br>br>As a result, I use it as a nice plate to eat from. It was for this reason that I purchased it. But I'm a laid-back type. br>br>I've also used it to keep food warm. br>br>I've also used it to bake bread several times. Once a week is a good estimate. br>br>THEN, one day, in a fit of temporary insanity, I decided to bake bread. After that, I removed it from the oven. Then, after taking the bread out of the oven, I. Set. It. In. The. Sink. Yes, I turned on the cold water while the pot was still smoking hot. BOOM!.
I gave them back to you. They broke, according to several reviews. As a scientist, I know how durable Pyrex can be. I noticed air bubbles and anomalies in the glass when they arrived. I'll pay whatever it takes to get a product that will last, and these are most likely factory seconds that were rejected during normal production.
These require the use of foil - There's no getting around it unless I want the crust to run all the way around the inside rim (which I don't). I just need to keep looking for more Extra Large pie shields because these are super heavy duty and really nice. They probably don't make them that big. I usually bake two pumpkin pies with my filling, but this necessitates making a DOUBLE BATCH OF PIE FILLING - As a result, the time for both my pumpkin and pecan pies was doubled (I had to make two batches of filling to fill one pie plate). I like the look, feel, and durability of these, but I wouldn't order them again because 1) the pie shields don't cover the edge of the crust; and 2) the pie shields don't cover the edge of the crusts. 2) To fill one of these, you'll need to make two batches; 3) Due to the fact that there is twice as much filling, the baking time is doubled.
