The volume of each cavity is 3 tablespoons (I measured this with water). I'd estimate that each mini pie would hold about 1 to 2 tablespoons of filling if you use a crust. These are mini-snacks that can be eaten in one or two bites. pies.
They are usually quite easy to release. If that doesn't work, I gently lift the pastry with a small plastic spoon.
These pies are only about a cup in size. Each pie is only big enough for two or three bites. However, mini chicken pot pie appetizers would be fantastic!
On top, the squares are 2 x 2" and on the bottom, they are 1-inch squares. 1/2 x 1- 1/2". I have three of these pans and find them to be excellent for potlucks. I'm not sure which one you're talking about.

In my entire life and career as a chef, I have never used a better mini pie pan. br>br>When I was looking for mini pie pans, I couldn't decide between this one and another brand that made individual mini pans. br>br>This one came with a pie shell cutter and a cute flower pattern for the pie topping when you flipped it over. Finding the correct ring size was no longer a guessing game. br>br>Cleaning was a breeze, and the pies slid out easily. This product is fantastic, and I will most likely order more in the future.
The adorable little pies are simple to remove. br>I read complaints that the crust/filling ratio was off, but I rolled my boxed pie crust a tad thinner and they were perfect. br>They're so much fun, and they'll make anyone smile if you give them away! br>Lattice is cute, but it's a lot of work compared to a large pie. I completed three and then used the cute (included) cutter to complete the remaining three.
The product itself does its job, but I don't believe it goes beyond a cupcake or mini cupcake tin. I thought the fluted edges would add something, but they're too small against the flaky crust, so I'd recommend using a cupcake tin instead. br>br>I would triple the crust recipe because each mini pie holds about a tablespoon of filling.
The tart pan itself is quite heavy, but the tart cutter is made of a light-weight plastic. The bottom of the cutter is used to cut out the circles for the tarts, and the top is used to press the tarts, which makes me nervous that it will break over time. Although the bottom of the cutter should be larger, you can enlarge the circle of dough by rolling it over it once or twice with your rolling pin. You're working with a dough circle. The cutter itself performs exactly as it should. It creates a nice pocket for whatever filling you want to use, and the edges are nicely crimped so the filling stays inside the pocket. This is far superior to hand-cutting the edges!.
Last week, I baked mini pies in a cupcake tin for my children's Planetbox lunches. They fit in the pan, but they were difficult to remove in one piece. I believe this is due to the lack of angularity on the sides. I bought it because it's still small enough to pack in a lunchbox and I hoped it would be easier to use. br>br>I was right. My first pies were a little overstuffed. Even though I had learned my lesson, they were still a lot easier to remove than the cupcakes. Also, the dough rounds are much more comfortable to work with. There will be no overlap. br>br>I always follow the directions on the back of the Minute Tapioca box when making fruit pie. It's super simple and delicious.
This pan is fantastic! Arrived the day before yesterday and made large tarts the next day! They browned beautifully and evenly, and I used my mother's jelly tart recipe with butter dough, which turned out beautifully. Mini chicken pot pies are next on the menu. The pan is simple to release and to clean. I like the plastic cutter so much that I'm going to order another one so I can make a second batch while the first bakes. This pan is one of my favorites! Happy Baking in the New Year!.
I've done it with leftover taco meat with a little cheese, chili, chicken, sausage, even steak and potatoes to save money, stretch your food dollar, and reduce food waste!! The pan is heavy weight, and the little shaper is just light weight plastic, but with the pan, it isn't really needed because you can shape and seal in the pan easily.
The cutest little 2 or 3 bite pies come out of this pan. Nothing sticks to it, and it's very easy to clean. The pizza crust cutter comes in handy. 24-hour service is available to me. If I re-use a two-crust box of pre-made pie crust, I can get 27 mini pies out of it. "Scraps" should be rolled.
