One of my favourite features about these cups was their solid one-piece construction, although the soft aluminum is extremely prone to scratching. It had already been marred with scratches on both sides when it was taken out of the box The only dent I let go was the one where a hammer hit it. While hand-washing and folding over the metal, I noticed that where the metal folds over the corners are quite sharp. Metal that has been folded seems to be smoothed down on the straight sides. For anyone else who also washes their hands, just be aware of these corners on all four sides. There is a small rim on the inside of each muffin cup and batter can get stuck on the inside.
