Questions & Answers
For beverage and food production, determine the maturity of fruits and plants, or control the concentration of industrial fluids (such as coolants, hydraulic fluids, and antifreeze) to extend equipment life and prevent corrosion, Brix and Refractive Index measurements are required.
There is no way I can tell for certain. In this case, it measures the sugar content in a liquid (juice, tea, lemonade).

Why is that? Wouldn't it make sense to have one that is specific to gravity? This is not the kind of thing I expected to measure specific gravity it has two scales instead, both in Brix units. I have used it to measure OG and FG in beer and have found it to be comparable to a hydrometer. In addition, it cannot be used as a method to calculate an ABV from FG alone. The OG and FG are the two numbers that you need to calculate. I started with 0 from my tap water at room temperature out of the box, which was an acceptable starting point for me, but a few adjustments could be made. This instrument comes with a durable plastic case and includes a screwdriver to adjust the instrument as well as a non-scratching cloth and a plastic pipette.
Five dollars was spent on this item I was six years old. It has been accurate to within one percent each time I use it to take test samples of machine-picked grapes, which happens once a year during grape harvest. There was a brix of 1 on every load With the ability to take goods to a market that demands certain sugar standards in order to pass, this has proved to be a highly valuable instrument and more than pays for itself after a The device is highly recommended, I've found it to be quite accurate when compared to commercial digital refractometers that are more expensive.
During my four years of use, I have found this instrument to be both convenient and useful. As a result, I use it for brix readings rather than the hydrometer, which depends on temperature and requires a larger amount of wine, cider, etc. To test grapes for sugar content, the results are pretty much in agreement with my tasting.
I have had this for a long time, and it still works well.
According to the description.
Great unit made by a great brand. Looks the same as some of the no-name brands sold for a few bucks less in industrial supply stores (which are all Chinese). There are some cases, accessories, and packaging that are better than others. I am pleased with the performance of this device.
As opposed to waiting for samples to cool before checking SG, it's nice to be able to do so while sparging.
I appreciate it. As described, this item works as expected. The purchase was good. Please accept my sincere thanks.
