The opportunity to calibrate has never presented itself to me. Glycol is the only liquid we use to prevent freeze damage
Not for testing batteries, but to test glycol %
It is true. Scale starts at 0 and goes up to 100 When ethylene glycol is heated to 82°F (at the top) or when water is heated to -79°F A bottom temperature of 60°F (for propylene glycol) compared to a top temperature of 32°F.

To check the antifreeze on military equipment, I have used the equivalent commercial product. There are instructions on how to calibrate and care for the device. The viewing reticle is bright. 1st use of a product Focus was uneven on the image, so it was adjusted. Referring to two models by their w/ATC and wo/ATC instructions. The calibration screw was marked with a small sticker Order confirmation that model ordered is the right one. I bought this model due to the photo of the flip plate appearing to be more sturdy on Amazon, which has several (almost identical) models that I can find there. No, it's not like that It is black plastic, not metal, that makes up the middle of the flip plate. A couple bucks more for colored plastic probably wasn't a problem for me. It will be interesting to see how this works, since it will be heavily used.
A great tool to use several times a year to check the glycol levels in cooling systems. I calibrated the device using distilled water and it came out correctly. If you're a technician or a home owner who'd like to get an accurate reading on glycol freeze protection, this is definitely what you need to buy. They simply do not cut it at Walmart or in the auto parts stores to buy those little floating ball items. Glycol levels are properly measured in this way, and will be accurate and usable.
This is great for checking antifreeze in the car in a hurry without having to deal with those silly bubble turkey baster designs. Put just a drop on the light and hold it for a few seconds you will know when it has mixed. As well as the adjustment screw there is a calibration screw.
I was really impressed with the accuracy of the reading. Through the eyepiece I was able to read the results. A slight price difference exists between this and the density-based pricing It's a little more expensive than my phone-based devices, but it's definitely worth it In this case, the density-based fee is $10 Those based on silicone are sensitive to air bubbles in the anti-foam There is a chance that the reading may become distorted by a freeze. Be sure you clean the unit properly each time you use it. Check the calibration with distilled water before using, so you can ensure that it is still accurate.
Our boat was purchased in order to protect it from the elements during the winter. Fresh water systems frequently underperform when antifreeze is flushed out and replaced with fresh water. This is partially due to residual water in the system causing the antifreeze to mix with the fresh water. It registered extremely well when I checked the accuracy of the instrument by measuring different antifreeze mixtures before I began to use it. For its price, this instrument is a good value, and easy to use. I would recommend it to other people.
I expected it to work. That's a huge improvement over the dip stick "it's close enough" method I used when I was a mechanic. It's working fine, I made up some 50/50 coolant solution to try. This unit is great and I would buy it.
Is easy to use and works as advertised. The product appears to be of reasonable quality, so if properly maintained, it should last a long time. The only downside to this device is that it needs distilled water to calibrate I had to buy a gallon of distilled water to get the measurements I needed. There is a need for three drops. Upon checking the calibration, mine was spot on, I did not need to make any adjustments. It would have been nice if it came in a hard shell case &. We included a small bottle of distilled water in the package.
This was ordered to test the glycol in the snow melting system on my driveway. SG Wort scales are included on this unit, and the scales are in Centigrade and Brix%. Am looking at something I have no idea what it is. **Correction** Last night, I received the correct refractometer. With the overall size and ease of use of this instrument, I will be able to continue my testing of chiller equipment for HVAC systems. During the summer, I install snowmelt systems in concrete driveways, and must properly charge the heating system with glycol that has the correct freeze point. It was good to get the right tool from you.
