Questions & Answers

Is it suitable for use as a straightedge? Isn't it true that the cork eliminates the possibility of drawing on a straight edge?

The cork isn't completely lined on the back. Because the cork is smaller than the ruler, there is no effect on the edge. I have no trouble getting a straight edge with the ruler, and the cork grips the paper, preventing the ruler from sliding.

Is it possible to use magnets with this?

That's correct. I put it to the test with a small magnet I had on my refrigerator.

What is the thickness of this ruler?

This is a thin but sturdy ruler that I use at work. It has a nice thin padding on the back, but I can't give you the exact measurement because it's at work. 1/16" is possible.

When you order something from Amazon, how many do you get? $7 is the cost. 77 ($1. 30 / count) equals 6, but the item package quantity listed in the technical details is 1. ?

I only got one, not six, but I ordered another one a week later and now have two on my desk. However, it's possible that the packaging has been altered.

Nice size, unappealing color, and a noxious sticker that is difficult to remove
3/5

This is the perfect size and appears to be sturdy, so I bought it to go with my new bullet journal. The rounded corners are appealing to me.
Cons: br>— I only looked at the first photo (my fault) and had no idea that I might get any color. So I got a red ruler, despite the fact that I would have preferred a plain stainless steel ruler. On the red background, I believe the light silver markings are more difficult to see. br>—The face of the ruler I received is covered in a smattering of tiny scratches. It appears to have spent the previous year in someone's junk drawer. br>—My ruler's cork backing was covered in two layers of nasty, old price/barcode stickers. They were difficult to remove because they didn't come off in one piece and left a sticky residue on the cork. I'm hoping that the stickiness doesn't spread to my journal pages. Also, when I tried to remove the sticker, the cork pulled away from the metal ruler, so I'm concerned that the cork's adhesive is drying out and won't hold up to much use. br>—Overall, this product is adequate and will serve its purpose, but I would seek out a different seller or a brick-and-mortar store. If I were to buy it again, I would purchase it from a brick-and-mortar store. Look for a seller who will send you a plain silver stainless ruler rather than one of a variety of colors.

The 6" ruler was scuffed when it arrived
3/5

One of the worst Amazon purchases I've ever made was for this ruler. I got a blue 6" ruler that is scratched to the point of being unreadable. When I removed the barcode sticker on the back, it ripped off a chunk of the cork and left sticky residue all over the cork in the places where it didn't pull the cork off. I threw this item away because I didn't think it was worth my time to return it. It's hard to believe that this ruler is an "Amazon's Choice. " Shame on you, Amazon.

These random stickers were all over my item
3/5

My item was encrusted with a variety of stickers that were nearly impossible to remove. I can't read the lines or the numbers on the ruler, so I can't actually measure anything with it.

It's AWESOME, except for the sticker and the packaging! Over the years, I've owned a couple of Westcott rulers
4/5

Stainless steel of excellent quality and precision. At home, there are two, and at work, there are two. This one is for my fly tying bench, and it almost ended up in the recycle bin because it was thrown in a box with packaging and a few other items (thank goodness I'm a responsible recycler). But it's the d*mned sticker they felt compelled to put ON THE CORK STRIP that irritates me the most. Why? It took a lot of effort to get rid of it, and now I'm left with a sticky residue that will collect dust, dirt, and other debris. Before the ruler gives up the ghost, I'm sure I'll be sick of the sticker residue and black mess. Why would you want to sabotage such a fantastic product?.

Little Ruler is just right
5/5

This is what I got for my bullet journal. My leuchtturm's back pocket easily accommodates it. The bottom of the ruler has a cork on it to keep it from sliding around, and the edges are completely smooth. The hash marks start 2mm from the edge on both ends, and the corners are rounded.

The size of the item and the manner in which it will be delivered
3/5

First and foremost, I value my Westcott 12" steel ruler, so I went looking for a 6" rule from Westcott. I was expecting a standard width rule, similar to what the other manufacturers display - a width of an inch to one and a quarter of an inch Is it correct that this rule is 3/4" wide? Sure. Is it straightforward to follow? Well, there you have it. Not to the same extent. Is it simple to operate? It is dependent on the application. Okay, I admit that I should have read the fine print. What irritated me the most was the fact that the bar code was stuck on the package - a lable that is 3" in length - on the subject of "non-negotiables" This small rule has a cork backing. It threatens to tear the cork if you try to remove it. Continue to use it - There will be no non-slip backing in the future! Is it a foregone conclusion? Yes, I believe so. So two stars for the lack of thought put into the information as well as the idiotic label.

Who is responsible for this update/revision to the original? Second update/review: br>I was given a refund without having to return the "labeled" ruler
3/5

It took some time, but I was able to remove the label with minimal further damage using a pair of super fine tweezers. I used the ruler and it worked fine; it appears to be a high-quality product, and my advice to the vendor as a customer is to avoid sticking anything on the cork. br>br>1st assessment: br>The ruler "would've" worked if the cork backing hadn't had a sticker stuck to it, which is why I bought it in the first place; because of the cork backing When I tried to remove the sticker from the back, the cork began to peel away.

The ruler isn't quite 6" in length
3/5

This ruler is exactly 6" long, and I have an older model. Before the measurements begin on this new model, there is a small gap on either end. Not at all what I was looking for; I wanted to press the ruler against something and take a measurement, but you can't do that with this ruler due to the small space before the measurement starts.
