Questions & Answers

Is it true that there are two sides to every story? Is the 0 on the cliff's edge?

There are two sides to the story: On one side, the graduations are in inches (32nds and 64ths), while on the other, the graduations are in milimeters (mm and 1/2 mm). The zero has come to an end on both sides.

How long will it be in total?

The ruler is 6 inches long, as shown in the image. If you're worried about a problem with really, really cheap rulers having a first graduation that's either too small or too large, making the first inch a problem; You should not be concerned. I bought three of these rulers, and they're all the same size. They're made very well!

Is the ruler pliable or inflexible?

Stiff. This is an excellent rule to follow. You will enjoy it unless you require a flexible rule.

Is there any sort of carrying case included?

A plastic sleeve is included with it. On one side, mine was clear, while on the other, it was red.

I prefer Mitutoya
5/5

I needed a 6" inch/mm ruler that was very accurate. br>After reading reviews on the popular three brands - Starrett, Mitutoya, and PEC - I decided on Mitutoya. I was perplexed, so I purchased all three. Look at the image. br>Mitutoya is my favorite; the markings and text are very clean and sharp. The brightness of the image is not properly reflected. When the eyes are normal, they are very clean and bright. Beautifully put together. The composition is well balanced. Half the price of Starrett. br>Starrett is also excellent, but I dislike the text font they use. Starrett, on the other hand, is a safe bet. br>I was not a fan of the PEC. They're not in the same league as the other two.

Scales that are clean, strong, and beautiful
4/5

The images, on the other hand, are deceptive. This is a fantastic set of scales. They're simple to read and look fantastic. They have a great print and a nice finish to them. They are comfortable to hold and have no sharp edges. br>br>The issue I had with them was that the image depicted the metric side as having two lines of text, one on each side, with a blank space in the middle. The scales I received have a single large line of text running down the middle, which is incorrect. They are the correct model, and everything else is correct as well, but the metric side of the picture is off. br>br>This is a little annoying because I ordered three of them EXACTLY for this purpose. I'm going to need that middle blank space. I'm still giving it four stars because most people don't care and these are excellent scales. However, it continues to irritate me.

I expected it to be more substantial
4/5

Please accept my apologies; that was far too simple. Every time I see that written in a review, I can't help but laugh. Reading dimensions is apparently too difficult, so perhaps they require one of these! Mitutoyo is the name of the character on the screen. It's of exceptional quality. For nearly 35 years, I worked as a machinist. Mitutoyo is in the same league as Starrett, Browne and Sharpe, and any of the Swiss watchmakers. This is an excellent small pocket scale. It has a nice weight to it, and the markings are well placed for easy reading. My only gripe, and it's a minor one, is that, despite the picture, this model is not manufactured in the United States. Japan is the source of this product. The quality is still very good. I would strongly suggest it. I appreciate you taking the time to read this.

A good rule means a lot
4/5

This is a fantastic rule, though I prefer my Starrett 6 inch. The following are the reasons. The Starrett rule has a less gleaming chrome finish that can be viewed without glare from nearly any angle. Due to better line length variation on the difficult-to-read 32nd and 64th scales, the incremental lines on the Starrett are easier to read. The numbers are larger, and the lines are deeper as well. In my photographs, you can see examples of this. br>br>I bought this one because Starrett doesn't seem to make metric rules. br>br>The Mitutoyo appears to be just as durable as my Starrett, is easy to write on with a pencil, and is a fantastic value. The majority of people are unlikely to notice the flaws I point out, but for those who do, Starrett is unquestionably the winner. If you're doing any measuring in the 64ths, the Starrett will come in handy.

It's of good quality and is simple to read
5/5

This is my first Mitutoyo purchase. (As a hobby, I'm just getting started with metal machining. ) ) If the quality of this rule is representative of Mituoyo's quality (which I am confident it is), I will purchase more Mituoyo products. br>There is one minor quibble: particular attention to detail: It's a tad thicker than I'd like it to be. (It doesn't really bend, to be honest. ) It will, but with enough force that you'll be concerned that you'll break the steel's elasticity. ) Aside from that, the finish is good, and the markings are legible and clear. Overall, this is a five-star product, especially considering the price; however, if you require a six-star product, this is not the product for you. You will not be disappointed with this inch machinist rule, which has both metric and US customary system markings.

This is not the item that is listed on Amazon
3/5

Mitituyo 182- is the product being listed. 105 The product I received is not what I expected; the rule I received has only standard inches, not metric readings.

This is a fantastic ruler! Is it possible for me to love a ruler too much? It appears to be quite a bit! The steel has a density of 0
5/5

The thickness is 050", which is greater than the 0. I keep a 6" General 676 on my desk and it has a 035" on it. and it's a lot thicker than 0. 018" on the General 616 caliper I have in my caliper case. The markings are engraved to prevent them from being removed. I'm unable to verify the accuracy because I lack the necessary information. The fact that one side is metric and the other is inches is useful. The disadvantage is that the metric side has 1mm on one edge and 1/2 mm on the other, while the inches side has 1/32" and 1/64", which can be visually distracting when taking coarser measurements for me. In comparison, the General 676 has 1/8", 1/16", 1/32, and 1/64" scales. The metric side, on the other hand, more than compensates for this. But, really, that's looking for a flaw in this ruler. It's really nice; in fact, I'm going to buy three more to put in stockings so that people don't get their hands on mine!.

Ruler of Kings
5/5

It's difficult on the eyes of the elderly. This is a well-made, sturdy product, and it would be a five-star product if the ruler was wider, as others have stated. It's about half the width of a regular ruler, and despite the fact that it's well-made and has good numbering, I found it difficult to read with my over-40 eyes. br>br>As an intermediate woodworker, I bought this so I wouldn't have to "Google" mm to inch conversions all the time. Many hardware installation instructions are written in "mm" measurements, especially with some of the better-made hardware. The purpose of having this ruler on hand was to make the installation process easier and more precise. br>br>Although it's a little smaller than I'd like, it's still usable and a fantastic product that I'm sure I'll find many uses for. I simply wish it had been wider for ease of handling and the possibility of having a larger number of people. However, it's a good product, and I'm glad I have it.
