Questions & Answers

Is there any flex in this ruler? Will it flex enough to conform to a page in a book for clean underlining, in other words?

This ruler is too stiff to read with, in my opinion. It can flex over a large curve, so it's fine for the outer part of the page, but it won't conform near the spine, where the curve needs to be sharper. I experimented with both hardcover and paperback editions. Perhaps some flimsy paperbacks will suffice, but they must conform to the ruler rather than the other way around. Another feature of this ruler is its extremely sharp, square edges, which feel as if they are digging into the paper rather than sliding smoothly across it.

Are the inscriptions carved or painted on the surface?

The inscriptions are scribbled in a light manner.

Is there a case for this rule in any way? It can be bent in almost any direction. Carrying it in my leather pouch makes me nervous. ?

There is neither a case nor a cover for this item. It is bendable in the same way that any other steel rule is. It should not deform under normal use unless it is intentionally bent out of straightness. One thing to keep in mind is that keeping it in my chest pocket caused it to rust; if kept close to your body and exposed to perspiration, a thin coat of vaseline or oil will help.

The scale is missing the first millimeter
3/5

This is completely false. On two rulers, the same problem exists. These rulers have let me down. I expected Mitutoyo to deliver high-quality products, but these are simply unacceptable. I'm not sure if they're knock-offs or not. Mitutoyo products made in the United States may be knockoffs or have poor quality control. Please see the photos in the attachments. The first one I got had a millimeter missing from it. A few days later, Amazon sent me a replacement, but it had the same issue as the first. br>Not only is the first millimeter missing, but the end of the ruler is also not square. The replacement ruler also arrived with the millimeter and inch scales on opposite sides, which is unusual for a precision product. br>br>Also, the replacement ruler arrived with the millimeter and inch scales on opposite sides, which is unusual for a precision product. I'm not sure what caused this. However, I have a feeling these aren't genuine Mitutoyo items. It was disappointing.

Mitutoyo is great for on-the-go
5/5

Have you ever been curious about the purpose of the pocket on your shirt? That pocket, you know, the one that's always empty or occasionally has a pen in it? That's the one. It's for this ruler, so keep that pen close by and grab the ruler. Look at how lonely your pen is; it desperately needs a companion! In all seriousness, the build quality is a 9/10; however, I cannot stand the clip, but that is just my opinion. The steel ruler has just the right amount of flex, and the etched scales are a fantastic finishing touch that won't rub off. I like my straight lines, so I use this ruler for on-the-go drafting. It has both metric and standard units, so I can use it for almost anything, including stirring my coffee. Metric has a maximum step resolution of mms, while inches have a step resolution of 64ths, which I occasionally use. A 64th - is printed on the back of the ruler. > for example, a mm chart 1/64" equals a value of zero. 397mm, 397mm, 397mm, 397mm, 397mm, 397mm, 397mm, 397mm, 397mm, 3 400mm. Normally, I'm not overly enthusiastic when I come across products made in the United States, such as my hamburger, but this ruler far exceeded my expectations in terms of quality. I would buy this item again if the opportunity arose. Last but not least, try to find a ruler that is identical to this one, in terms of size, scale, and quality, for a reasonable price. It will save you time, but you won't be able to.

This is a fantastic item to keep in your workbook and hand out to customers! I work in an industry where I am constantly required to measure smaller sized products for crossing over or seeing true size, and I keep this information in my on-hand and on-site work book
5/5

It has a great clip that I keep on the inside of my front page and pull out whenever I need to measure something. It's a little flimsy, to be honest. More than I expected, but at the price, I'd buy it again, and you never know how long these small metal objects will last. br>br>It's been a good experience so far, and I'd buy it again.

Ruler of excellent quality
5/5

This ruler is exceptional. Made in the United States by a Japanese company. The letter J is used. It adheres to both British and American standards, making it extremely accurate and well-made.

I placed a second order for four more
5/5

They will be given to my boyfriend. He . I placed a second order for four more. They will be given to my boyfriend. He has a habit of losing small items at work, so I ordered four more pocket flashlights. That will be the subject of a separate review. (It's all good. ) Also, extra screwdriver sets for pocket. The hind site is perfect in every way. It's possible that I didn't place a sufficient number of orders. That is enough. Strong and well-made. When measuring in a confined space where you can't see the ruler, clip slides are a plus. You use the clip to mark it and then view it.

This is a nice little rule
4/5

This is a handy pocket rule that has English units on one side and metric units on the other. On the back of the card is a 1/64 to mm conversion chart. The cross piece comes in handy when it comes to measuring depths and thicknesses. Mitutoyo measuring instruments have proven to be of excellent quality in my experience. This isn't an exception to the rule. The 1/8, 1/4, and 1/2 inch points were not accented, which is my only criticism. The scale is a little difficult to read as a result of this. The scale is numerically marked every 8 1/64 divisions, which is helpful but necessitates the conversion of 64ths to whatever you want. I suppose we old math majors aren't used to working with numbers.

(capital 'S') The Standard
5/5

This little steel ruler, like most Mitutoyo measuring instruments, serves as a benchmark for all other little steel rulers. It's almost perfect, but watch out for the sharp corners (on one end), which will happily rip a hole in your pocket. However, from a practical standpoint (measuring things), they make sense when you need to quickly/reliably butt one end of the ruler against another edge or wall, for example. Or. Perhaps they could be rounded off a little. That would be taken care of in 5 seconds on the bench grinder.

Made in the United States, this product is of good quality
5/5

In my line of work, I use pocket scales on a daily basis. The scribe marks are narrower than other scales and appear to be more precise. It's of higher quality than other scales I've used before, and it's made in the United States. I visited Mitutoyo's Novi, Michigan showroom. One of their guiding principles is to buy as much measuring equipment as possible from the country in which it is sold.
