I have a few indicators, but this seems to be the one I use the most. This is, I believe, the first indicator I reach for because of its size, ease of use, reliability, and accuracy. It's a little more expensive, but I've had some Starrett tools for over 30 years and love them. It's a dependable product that simply does its job.
" Starrett's work is fantastic - as usual. Now I understand why it has never been discontinued. It's easy to use and incredibly precise. When positioned, the adjustable arms do not move. Excellent for vise indication as well as a variety of other tasks. It's simple to read the indicator dial. There are no issues.
The dial has a small size.

This is without a doubt one of the most useful indicators ever devised. It's incredibly small and versatile; if you think you need one, you won't go wrong with this one, and it'll likely become something you use all the time. It can be adjusted to indicate in a variety of directions, and the lever action can be toggled. It's a marvel of engineering in miniature. I am blown away.

I just got mine, and I'll be using it for years to come. It'll be useful for traming in a vise, as well as milling and lathe work.
