In what way does magnet holding power differ from other types of holding ?

If you use cheap magnetic bases, you can't trust the ratings. I don't know the rated weight of the base, but we can't believe what the ratings say The one I have is great, and I am completely satisfied. When it comes to Starrett, you can't go wrong. It is painful to invest this much on a magnetic base, but it's worth the money in the long run.

It's built to an extremely high standard

I used this in conjunction with a Starrett dial indicator to adjust On my Jeep Wrangler 2003 and 2013, as well as on my RWD Volvo 740 1990, I gear the differentials manually. This measuring instrument is especially well built and made in the USA by people who are passionate about producing high quality Like the olden days, this style of furniture isn't cheap, but it will last for a lifetime. It's worth it to pay more for quality in some instances. A good example of them is here. In fact, the cheap differential housing from Harbor Freight rotates around constantly without even staying in place. In addition to being expensive, this magnetic base makes it possible to take accurate measurements of backlash, etc. It saves you a lot of time (and the expense of 8 or 9 Even if you only plan on using it once, you can always sell it on CraigsList. A Starrett Instruments purchase is a safe bet. Since I have been using Starrett measuring tools for many years, I have yet to encounter a problem or a calibration issue. In many ways, you get what you pay for, but Starrett tools are more value because they last for longer.
