Selected User Reviews For Noga FA1500 Universal Fine Adjustment Swivel Clamp for Dial & Test Indicators
As much as I struggle to write this review, this product is exactly what it is supposed to be, and it works exactly as it should. During the past few weeks, I have seen not one, but four of these break at our store. Clearly, it's the weak link in the design chain, and Just as clearly, Noga knows it and doesn't care. Having things tightened up by hand is NEVER going to lead to failure in a machine shop! On reputation alone, the Noga arms and base are the preferred indicator holder among most machinists, but sadly, our shop has failed to live up to that reputation. As long as this problem is not promptly addressed and fixed , I would be unwilling to recommend a Noga product, and they won't be welcome in our boutique.
They are made from a cheap metal that has caused several people in my shop to break them. There is too much play between the sides of this attachment. Noga needs to go back to the drawing board with these. I had to tighten the fine adjustment screw and make sure the indicator is facing in the right direction so there is no.
It was because of this simple clamp that I had two noga bases causing problems for years. Prior to checking Amazon, I had never heard of it. That's what I wanted to do, so I resurrected about 300 dollars' worth of bases for around 20 bucks (due to the two-fold multiplier).
I would recommend them for labs of all sizes.
It was never put to use. The stand was hand tightened after it was screwed on. When I tried to tighten it with a wrench, it broke. In my attempt to get it snug, I did not overtighten it or force In the meantime, I have read another report that it broke in the same way. In this part of the clamp, more reinforcement is needed. In view of the broken pieces, the material is not very strong, and it looks as if this weak point could easily be broken.
I was very satisfied with the quality of the product and the speed of delivery.
The machined surface is very poor quality. The reaming would need to be done to 3/4 because it was slightly under-sized The size is too large and the shape is unnatural. Starrett is always right. It might cost a bit more, but they're always on the mark.
I love it.
