For machinists, it is a godsend
5/5

The amazing things that these machines do probably go without saying to all machinists. Comparatively speaking, the old school holders (two sliding rods) do the job, but they are awkward to use and difficult to place exactly where you want them. With these Noga consoles you can articulate in every direction, and when you tighten the knob, it's as simple as flipping a switch. It turns into a solid rock from a limp noodle. (At least to me) the time you'll save and the ease of use are worth more than what these cost. It is also sturdy enough to serve as a magnetic base. In spite of this being one of the smaller models (great for smaller setups or where a long reach isn't necessary), all of the nogas are basically the same. These tools are absolutely awesome. You're missing out if you do any type of machine work and do not have one.

The first thing I should have done was buy it
5/5

After years of using my cheap indicator holder, I finally had enough and bought the Noga. Having learned first hand why machinists love Noga, I can now appreciate it myself. This product lives up to the hype - I've tried it - Despite its high price, this is a worthwhile purchase. As I didn't pay that much attention to dimensions when I ordered it, I was surprised at how small the mag base turned out to be. I actually prefer the size of the Noga mag base to my cheapo one it is as strong and as versatile as it is large. Small spaces are no problem for this device. I use this term for the working space on a Sherline lathe, where pretty much the entire workbench qualifies as "tight spaces". Designed to fit Sherline - the indicator holder is an ideal fit. In fact, you can stick the base directly to the lathe bed, in between the ways, to take measurements without having to worry about scratching anything. Don't be like me, so to speak. It is not wise to spend money on a cheap holder only to end up having to buy a better one. Don't be afraid of It's impossible to go wrong here.

This is a pricey and dicey product but a great product
5/5

Noga is the best maker of bases! During that time. If you're wondering if this is an expensive purchase or if the cheap chinese knock off for half or a third of the cost is a better deal, you're not alone. As well as me, I considered doing that. Noga is the way to go. Despite its high price, this magnet has a strong magnetic field and is of better quality and craftsmanship. It will last you a lifetime. It is the last thing you want to happen when your china indicator base slips and falls to the floor, causing your expensive indicator to break. As an original Noga buyer, I was expecting a larger model, however, this was the only one I could afford. It is a little machine, but I think it has enough reach for any machine that is "regular" in size. You may shift the table or axis closer to the work, which is the worst case scenario. While I have not yet used this product, except to play around with it, I can tell it is going to work for me if I only have one complaint about these things, the price. They seem excessively expensive for a magnet and an articulating arm, but that is only I urge you to get.

A magnet is a waste of time
3/5

I like the arm a lot. The only positive thing I can say about it is that. There is no way the magnet can hold 70 pounds since it is so weak. will not even stand up if it is placed on the side of a surface or at the bottom. No need to add Latest update The measurement will work on a piece of metal thick enough to wrap around a wheel (such as the flywheel for a clutch) with an attached dial indicator, but it's still pretty easy to go The weight of 70 lbs is beyond its capacity. The program worked, but it was barely adequate.

This is amazing! A third CNC machine I operate at my job means that I already own two of the next step up (slightly larger)
5/5

Although, I ordered this particular base specifically for my Hardinge manual lathe, and I honestly cannot imagine how much happier I would be if I had bought it for my mill. It is perfect. I knew NOGA's quality and this single base fulfilled my expectations. (I intend to only ever own NOGA after this point in time) The independent arms are able to reach over my compound in order to indicate the work material without ever having to move it. It would be my first choice 10 times out of 10. Thanks a lot! There has been no complaint.

For dial indicators with smaller sizes, this approach works well
5/5

My Mitutoyo indicator has a dial measuring about 1 inch, so this is the holder I bought for it. The diameter of the hole is 5 inches. That part of the program works without a hitch. To see if the holder worked with the larger Mitutoyo indicator with a diameter of approximately 2 inches, I tried it just for fun. It is 5 inches long. Magnetically attached to anything but a perfect surface, the iron was not strong enough to hold it up. As well, the dial indicator was heavier and heavier, making it more difficult to set up. If you use it for the purpose for which it was designed, you should be very pleased.

It has an outstanding arm, but the magnet is weak
4/5

It can be replaced easily. It is an outstanding piece of equipment. It is a very smooth motion until the clamp is tightened and then locks rigidly. Although there are times I wish this arm was longer, this is the shortest version and I probably will follow my mind and get a longer one eventually. While the magnetic base is weak, the screen is good. Although it works, it makes the setup much more delicate than any other part of it. Nonetheless, the arm base is threaded M5, and I made the necessary adjustments after tapping an M5 hole in the switchable magnet that came out of one of the cheap dial gauge holders I had, and that has made In a similar way, I can add m5 holes to other clamps and mount them anywhere.

It's very sturdy, but comes in a compact size
5/5

I bought a Noga knockoff years ago and was pretty disappointed. It was a lot more expensive, but it was worth every penny. There is a big difference in size between the mag base and the mag. A toy-like appearance almost makes it seem like a product. The quick adjust feature is on the arm of some models, while others, like the one shown here, has the quick adjust feature on the base. Different sizes are available. You can pick any size and style you want, but I recommend the Noga, and not the knockoffs.
