The rods I received appear to be made of steel. Is there a nickel plating on these? I don't want to cut them open and then be unable to replace them. ?
Right out of the package, mine appeared to be brass. It's possible that the item you received was incorrect. I'd double-check with the shipper, but they're probably not brass if they don't look like it.
