Hello, yes, it's a powerful punch. One helped me remove an old bearing race from a differential housing. Because it's made of a softer metal, it didn't gouge the housing.
It's a term used in the field of machining. Half hard is 50% easier to machine than full hard. That being said, brass is by nature fairly easy to machine. All of your brass air fittings are made of half hard.

Well, yes, if you use a big enough hammer. I ordered this to reweld some worn hols in my shop press, and it worked great. I've also used it as a punch several times.
It's simple to machine, and it's simple to solder. I'd suggest it.
The only thing I can think of is minor scratches (which won't matter because you're going to machine it anyway). Overall, this is an excellent product that I would purchase again.
Material for drifting that is solid.
