Selected User Reviews For United Scientific SSB6X9 Stamped Steel Support Stand with Rod, 6" x 9" Base with 24" Rod
Based on the documentation on the pieces, the base seems to be manufactured using a punch press constructed from heavy metal, making it suitable for holding things in place. The rod end appears to be rounded, acting as a guide to hold Also, you will not snag your clothes, and it should be easier to attach plastic supports for plants, insulators, or coverings for biology projects when using the tip.
My goal was to have this make a buret tree to display in my inorganic chem lab at a plating company. There was no cost associated with it. A heavy machine like that will do the job just fine. Nevertheless, the finishing on both the rod and the base isn't durable enough to withstand drips or an acidic atmosphere for long periods of time. A week after it was installed, the enamel started rusting through the base, and a month later there is significant oxidation on the rod. My plan is to have it blasted and coated with epoxy.
The cast iron stands I have do not have flat surfaces. A total of three ring stands are available to me. Those are two of the more expensive ones and they are This one is much more appealing to me. Although the weight difference is negligible (which is because the base dimensions are the same), the stamping quality is very good. Cast iron stands I have wobble, are not vertical, and don't have flat and level surfaces on their bases. One of the best things about it is it is cheap, and there is no such issue with this one. What is the point of spending more when cheap can work just as well?.
This is the best value I can find on Amazon due to my cheap habits. The base is very heavy That's definitely what you're looking for The base is solidly built and the rod is well secured. They all seem to be made of heavy duty It was as pictured, I purchased two and received two, and I would definitely purchase from this seller again.
It was a costume prop used for Halloween. I could not keep it screwed up as it kept coming unscrewed at any movement Multiple times, slime has been spilled. It would be best to use some permanent locktite or some medium to secure this if you are using it for a scientific endeavor.
That's the only strike against it. A well made stand that is low priced. The only negative is that the paint finish arrived scratched. There is also a ruffled edge at the base. The stand can still be used as an apparatus stand, and neither should impair its functionality.
Because the metal pole can't be securely fastened, it's liable to swing back and forth when held, especially when anything like an electric motor is attached.
As I can only afford a few parts and pieces at a time, I am building it slowly.
