The metal base is 22 1/2 inches wide, and when the wheels are turned outward, they stick out an inch on each side.
It has a diameter of about 2 inches. Because the pole is now in storage, I'm sorry for not having an exact measurement.
Please accept my apologies for the delay in getting back to you. I have it on a carpeted floor, so it stays in place.
The top half of the pole is detachable from the bottom half, allowing you to adjust the pole's height and remove it from the base. I hope this information is useful.

Update: It's been 5 years, and it's still a fantastic investment. I'm using it on a 19-year-old cat right now. This is the third cat in our household to be diagnosed with subq. When there are multiple cats in need of subsistence, it "folds" up nicely to fit in a closet. It's still as strong as it was when it was first purchased. We don't include it because we do sub-contracting. Three times a week, q on this cat. br>br>For my cat's kidney disease, we get to do subcutaneous fluid every night. The veterinarian initially estimated that she had a few weeks or months to live. The whole "hang the bag on the door" thing didn't appeal to me, but at this price, I had no choice but to give it a shot. My husband was on the fence about it. It is, after all, well worth it. First and foremost, we can wheel her over to wherever she is most at ease. Second, the bag could be waiting for us. Finally, we've been doing this every night for the past ten months. Something appears to be functioning. Overall, her blood tests have improved significantly, and she appears to be in good health for a woman of her age.
For the usual reasons. I wanted to use it as a Halloween prop. It held a bladder of Merlot from a box admirably for my gathering. I had the idea that it should resemble a blood bag. I found this IV Stand to be the cheapest one that appeared to be in good condition. It was delivered on time, was simple to put together, held the wine without shattering, and matched my vision. I'm really happy about it.
I bought it to go with the EZ Shower Bag, which holds enough water to give you a thorough rinse. This was the best purchase I could have made to make washing the hair of a bedridden person faster and less stressful. br>The Square Inflatable Basin With Drain Tube Too was also used. Hair washing was a breeze for all three of them. br>In addition, the construction of all three is of high quality.
It holds my heavy liter of iv fluids just fine; the only thing is that when I have the liter of fluids on the pole, I try not to walk around too much because it can tip easily because it's top heavy at that time; however, this isn't a problem if you're careful and walk slowly. My other iv's that are less than a liter don't have any issues with the pole. Also, in order to walk around, you must get all of the wheels going in the same direction, or it will be like rolling a shopping cart with a bad wheel. Overall, I would buy this pole again and would recommend it to others. I've been using it for daily iv's for the past six months. If you want it to roll around easily, you can probably buy round wheels that can roll in any direction and figure out a way to attach them with some creative thinking.
Don't buy this stand; the pole couldn't stay up and kept collapsing after only a few weeks. I had to use a clamp to rig it, which makes changing the height impossible. One of the wheels simply disintegrated for no apparent reason. It had simply snapped. It's been said that if something appears to be too good to be true, it probably is. Invest in a better system that includes higher-quality wheels and components. My gravity-fed iron is hung from mine.
Ok - The threading on the first one I got was terrible. I contacted Amazon, who promptly (via email) connected me with Kati Med Solutions, who promptly shipped me a new Economy IV Pole, which I received in 3 to 4 days - The new version is fantastic. It complies with all of the requirements. It really works.
Now that I'm stuck with it, I won't be able to get out of it. It's heavy enough to be useful, and it's simple to put together. Instead of using a lamp pole, I planned to use this for my cat, but the lamp pole is more stable. Sorry, but this thing wobbles back and forth. I can use it, but if I had known it couldn't be returned, I would have given the lamp pole more thought.
Because I have a cat with chronic kidney disease, I decided to purchase this IV pole. This was far more convenient than securing his fluid bag to a door or cabinet. I was able to raise it to a level where the fluid could freely flow. It was very easy to put together. All you have to do now is screw a couple of pieces together and you're done. It appears to be durable, which it is for my needs. I like that I can roll it behind a door or into a corner when I'm done using it, and that it's unobtrusive, especially since it looks like I'll be giving my cat fluids on a daily basis for at least a few years.
