Questions & Answers
They're in the middle of the spectrum. pliable. PVC vinyl is what they are made of. Sellstrom's Wildland Fire and Tactical models are made of santoprene, which is softer and more flexible, and both have a thin, soft foam gasket around the edges, which provides a much better seal as long as the frame fits your face shape well. These are quite nice, but I returned them in favor of the Tactical model, which is similarly vented but fits and feels better. If it matters to you, these PVC models are more resistant to oil and solvent aerosols, but the lenses are essentially the same for all of their double-vision models. This is a good example of a pane model.
They are crystal clear, have excellent color rendition, and appear to be optically correct with no distortions. They also have a large field of view.
You'd still need to wear a mask to protect yourself from paint fumes.
They're bad because they don't keep your face sealed. As a result, the off-spray will enter via the sides. br>And they're also very inexpensively made.

For working in a chemistry lab, these goggles are the best I've ever owned. They don't fog up nearly as much as regular goggles, and they easily fit over my glasses. br>br>The padding is comfortable and they feel like snowboarding goggles (and look like them too). br>br>I would recommend these to anyone who is taking a chemistry lab course or working in a lab that requires goggles.
These were absolutely fantastic! It's so relaxing and clear. I'm finally able to persuade my boyfriend to put on his glasses. He wears them to work every day and they never fog up! I had to come up with a solution, or he might not have had eyes for much longer! He used to get metal flakes in his eyes all the time, but no longer! I am in love with these and plan to purchase more.
Sorry for being lazy, but I'm just going to copy and paste my review for Sellstrom's Tactical model, which is very similar (but, in my opinion, better). These were purchased at the same time and will be returned because the Tactical are more comfortable (and aren't blue) - These, on the other hand, are quite nice; they're probably best worn for a shorter period of time. The focus of this review is on the Tactical model, but comparisons to the various Sellstrom models may be useful: br>br>I didn't see this model recommended by Amazon, but I discovered it after browsing Sellstrom's website to learn more about their products. They're all basically the same Odyssey II frame, just with different materials and whether or not they have indirect vents. The tactical model is a good mix of the Wildland Firefighter and the standard Odyssey blue models. Instead of the blue vinyl or whatever the standard version uses, the frame is made of a soft flexible rubber. Although the frame design allows it to squish and conform to the face, the rubber does so more softly and effectively than the vinyl. Although you can't see them in the product photos because they're obscured by a thin layer of smooth squishy foam that provides a better face seal (as on the Wildland model), it still has the nose bridge slits for a good fit. So it's softer, seals better than the standard, and is vented, unlike the Wildland, which is exactly what I was looking for, and I'm very pleased with it. Also, a color that isn't too bright or too dark. br>br>I wear small, oval-lens eyeglasses, and they fit perfectly in these without causing any discomfort when putting them on or taking them off. You might not like these if your glasses are midsize, and large lenses or wide frames are almost certainly a no-no. When working at the grinder or drill press and needing to peer at various angles/distances, the peripheral vision is fantastic for goggles, and I don't feel hampered in the least. Rather than goggles, it feels like a face shield gives you more visual freedom. br>br>I was pleased to receive the lens in clear rather than smoke. The smoke lens is not included in Sellstrom's catalog, but it can be purchased separately. This listing, I believe, needs to be fixed by the seller. I also ordered the blue Odyssey II model for comparison, but I'll be returning those because they still fit well and are very similar, but these tactical ones just feel better and fit a little better (softer fit, if that makes sense). Just in case these were smoke, I picked up an extra clear lens for a reasonable price on here. Now I have a backup lens in case I need it. br>br>There hasn't been any fogging yet, but if the conditions are right, any basic goggle will fog sooner or later. The lens is actually a sealed double pane with a thin open cell foam strip separating the two plastics - For a while, this was a good approach to fogging prevention, but with so many vents on the top and bottom, these aren't ideal for long periods of time with super fine dust, such as when sanding wood or sheetrock. If desired, it would be simple to seal off some or all of them (or simply purchase the Wildland model). So far, I've found it to be very effective at keeping overhead chainsaw debris out. br>br>Glad the pricing has returned to normal/reasonable levels. Anything more than fifteen dollars is considered robbery, and even that is pushing it. They are, however, of excellent quality, and you could do a lot worse than Uvex, 3M, and Bolle (and, I suppose, Dewalt).
I was blown away by the quality of the pair I received. I just came back to order two more pairs and was pleasantly surprised by their low price. When working with caustic chemicals or smashing things with a hammer, these come in handy. These are fantastic value for money, and I highly recommend them. I haven't yet succeeded in fogging them up.
These goggles are great; they're comfortable, stylish, and the lenses are crystal clear. However, I purchased them because they were designed to be worn with glasses. My prescription glasses are small, so they should have fit into the goggles, but they ended up hitting the inside of them. I tried to make it work by adding weatherstripping around the goggles to increase the "stand off," but in order for the glasses to fit inside, I had to add a second layer of weatherstripping right where the glasses arms go, which compromises the seal if you're trying to make this PPE for Covid purposes. With this modification, it sort of works, but the weather stripping is a little flimsy, so it's not ideal unless your glasses are extremely small. You should first put your glasses inside the goggles, then put the combination over your face, as someone else suggested.
Unfortunately, I had to buy these because my Dewalt didn't fit over my glasses well enough. When removing the goggles, leave a small gap to avoid trapping the glasses. These appeared to be true fit over-the-knee boots based on the reviews. They were not, however. Before the seal even gets within 14 inches of my face, my glasses hit the inside of the lens (outside edge of frames). Otherwise, they appear to be in good condition, but I wanted to make sure that others were aware of this before purchasing them. They weren't even close to being suitable for me.
) ) They're also extremely comfortable for at least two hours - Because of the lack of foam, it could be exhausting for much longer. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say for sure. If I lose or break these, I will purchase again.
So it's back to school in Chicago, and goggles were at the top of my PPE list because they fit over my readers comfortably. My glasses had fogged up, but my googles had not. The adjustable strap is pleasant to wear - It isn't just black like in the advertisement- It has the words "Sellstrom" written on it. It's difficult to assess these because they're the first (and hopefully last) pair of shoes I'll ever purchase. They're fairly adaptable and fit my plus-size face well.
