Using this for my christmas lights is a great solution due to the fact that I work with circuit boards so much. The spring is filled with a lot of work for me and as a result I needed a new station. My old one was given away to a friend because he wanted one and I planned to upgrade with a new one. Upgrades like this are always welcome. Due to the frequency with which I use solder n seal connectors and the fact that sometimes I will just melt solder and use heat shrink, I wanted a heat gun attached to it. In any case, I used to have an analog watch with a dial, and it was hard to get one as accurate as Heating up on this station is around the same speed as on my old one. In addition to the heat gun, which I have used a few times so far for rework, I've also used the cutting torch. At times I have had a difficult time getting the solder lines where I want them. The device may seem like overkill if you never use soldering stations, but if you do use them often, it will definitely be better than a battery operated pen, and way better than a standard.
