Questions & Answers

This temperature is too hot to reflow SMDs, is it?

The temperature gets hot enough yes

Could you switch the Farenheit display to Celsius if you wanted to?

You can only change it to Celsius. The melting point of most soldering compounds is around 260 C, so you must heat it above that point. So far, my experiments have shown that 350 C was very effective in everything I've encountered up to now.

The outside diameter of the hot end is how many millimeters?

In the 21st and 21st decade. The thickness of the band is 5mm. It isn't possible for me to measure mine exactly since the tip is extremely tightly pressed against the hot-tub tube To calculate the thickness of the press-cut end, I had to subtract the thickness of the press-cut end This tip is for you. The small tip is going to be sufficient, so it is sitting on the shelf for now. Describes the exterior diameter of a hot-glue gun 22 is the sum of the tip plus the end. The tip's body is about 40mm thick, and the thickness of its tip is 0.1mm. 45mm in diameter.

SMDs (Surface Mounted Devices) are new to me, and to be honest, I'd prefer to have them mounted by the board manufacturer. A small number of these project boards were made, and for the first one (which I am not showing here), the chips were mounted with The setup includes two op/amps as well as eight of each of two types It didn't turn out so well, and three of the resistors failed to work. I have soldered and desoldered on that board multiple times. Then I again soldered and desoldered. bar chart on the right is the result of the first attempt at Everything worked seamlessly and I was able to select a heat setting and air flow speed with ease. It was done without the use of a soldering iron or rosin-based flux It's not core solder, but solder paste, the kind you keep in the fridge. It should also be noted that both boards were worked on with a microscope and tweezers costing $50. So far, the device has proved to be a great buy. Although I'm open to updates, I'll give it a pass if it turns to dirt Five stars for now.

As far as I can tell, it is working
3/5

There are some problems with the power plug and lead. As of yet, I have had no problems with functionality. As soon as I opened it, I saw that everything was earthed according to where it should There is hot air coming out of it. However, there are a few things to keep in mind There are two problems with it (1) The power lead is quite short, which is very

(2) In the plug, the live and neutral wires are reversed. I ended up cutting off the plug and replacing it, and then getting a short extension lead to deal with the length issue. This means that the fuse is on neutral, which is bad because if it blows the device might still be live.

(Obviously, you should be careful with such things. Random Amazon reviews should not be taken seriously when it comes to electrical safety.

A power rating of 600w is stated in the manual, not It's fine if you can get it at that price, but As with everyone else, I opened it and the quality seems to have improved but the ground of the crimp was soldered and it was never closed, Apart from that, they began to cover wires in poly tubing and strengthened them further by adding hot glue
4/5

I really don't like lying to my customers, so that is the only reason for the 4-star rating. They advertise 700 watts, and the manual says 600w for 40$, so I would have been happy with 600w. The purpose of this purchase was to desolder and resolder a USB-connected device There is a 3. 5mm headphone jack on my galaxy note that I need for After I've got the phone working hopefully using this rework station, which otherwise seems to be working quite well, I'll include a photo of the manual I received to show that it says 600 watts.

I had no major issues with it
4/5

Price was very reasonable for such an essential item. I began disassembling it and checking for wiring faults as soon as I got it home. Crimp connections were used for ground connections, but the connections That is why I removed a star from it because a crimped connection (with locking washers) would have been much better when it comes to seeing I'm not trusting In addition, I would have liked to see a crimped ground on the handle. Rather than wrap the wire around a metal bar, the wire was wrapped around a metal bar inside. This prevented shorts from happening, but wasn't the most effective grounding option. Yet it does the job well and it doesn't have any fatal flaws (pun intended).

What a blast! It is not clear to me yet whether this is the right tool for the job
5/5

While I believe it will be fine, I still love to play with fire, just like most adults who loved it when they were kids. In essence, this is a very small heat gun you can focus to a very small area. With candles and matches and gummy bears and anything else I could get my hands on, I spent a solid 30 minutes melting holes in stuff and conducting other scientific experiments. This is a great toy for a reasonable price and just for the fun factor. I think it will work great for accomplishing air rework on boards as well. If, for some reason, this does not work, I will post an update. For now, this is a fantastic program that is both fun and educational.

This was an excellent purchase, which I wish I had made sooner

A CO was sent to me when I purchased it As of November 20, 2019, the Z 858D was in effect. If I encounter any issues in the future, I will update this review. A cardboard box and foam padding were used to secure the unit. In the box were all the pieces that were advertised. Reading other reviews of low-priced products has led me to think that they - As I have experienced some issues with low-cost hot air rework units manufactured in China, I was concerned that this very inexpensive unit might have similar problems (loose screws, smoking, etc. ). A rattling noise or loose pieces could indicate a faulty unit. The base unit and handheld wand were checked for these issues. My model does not have any issues. The manual is clearly written for a number of different models, and includes some text that is irrelevant This text is understandable overall, but it clearly shows that it was written by someone who did not speak English as a first language. Neither the manual nor its diagrams explain how to attach the mounting bracket or position the handheld hot air wand.

The mounting bracket for the handheld hot air wand is not very well illustrated. The air wand is shipped unattached from the base. On the base unit, the two screws needed to attach the bracket are already installed. The mounting bracket was easily attached to the wall using the included screws. Next, I connected the power to the base unit and turned it on. As soon as the unit is turned on, the wand needs to be attached to the mounting bracket. All functions of the unit were functional when it turned on. You can set the temperature using the up/down buttons on the digital display, and the displayed setpoint is shown on the LED. With the analog rotating dial, you can adjust the air flow. My heater turned on and hot air blew from the wand when I removed it from the mount. Neither the temperature calibration nor the accuracy has been verified In addition, the fan automatically shuts off when the wand is placed back on the mounting bracket. When the wand is reattached to the mounting bracket, the heater switches off, and the fan continues until the air is no longer hot. The box was in good condition with no smoke, strange noises (such as humming from a power transformer), or any other issues. I was also pleasantly surprised by the extra piece included in the package. As it turned out, it was the same IC extractor tool that was listed among It looks like a great 40$ purchase! I haven't used it yet to solder or heat, but it is looking good. This would have been a better purchase if I had purchased My experience with this is much better than that of the hot air guns I have used for other purposes, and I expect I will use this for many other things, including.

It is a fantastic station for reworking
5/5

This is a great beginner rework station for the money, since it has features that you'd expect to see on much higher priced units, such as an idle sensor that starts cooling down when you place the hand piece in the holder and eventually turns off after about five minutes of inactivity. In use, this feature will save you money because you will not turn off your rework station when it is still warm (and you will save costs on power too).
