I've used it a few times and have had no problems with it. Sometimes you may have to bend the chip legs out a bit to make it fit snuggly Using the chip extractor has been successfully completed.

This chip holder for DIP ICs is terribly poor quality. It is too big for the chip and does not.

When I tried to remove a stubborn DIP28 chip I bent the claws of the IC puller

This is a tool you should only use occasionally. With the help of a flat-blade screwdriver, I coaxed it part of the way out and picked it up with the puller.
