Rather than using split copper tips, this pin extractor uses split brass. They flex a lot, so they are out of shape. As long as the pin you are trying to extract is stronger than the copper (98% of the time), the copper spreads apart and does not lift the pin. There was nothing I could do with this item. Make sure that the pin extractor is made from solid metal.
After more than 30 years of experience as an engineer, I still find it difficult to remove pins. As a rule, you always want to connect to things that have solder cups, however sometimes you have to use pins that insert into the connector, in which case you need this tool to replace/repair a pin. A key thing to keep in mind is that this tool is not really designed to extract the pin from the lock, more specifically, it's designed to open the lock that holds the pin. When the pin is unlocked, you need to gently push or pull it out while holding the tool free of the pin. Taking out the pin requires a lot of practice because the extraction tips are so delicate and can break if you dig your hands into the pin trying to release it. By sliding the extraction tip over the wire on the connector, and then sliding it into the connector to unlock the pin, pins can be extracted. With all these things in mind, this tool is the one I reach for first when I need There is enough room around the handle for you to exercise some control while feeling around for the pin lock to open. There are also 7 different extraction tips included in the tool, as well as an allen key that is I would like to make one last point. A crimping tool is used to crimp a new pin onto a wire that is crimped onto a connector pin. The wire needs to be crimped onto a new pin using this Crimping tools like these can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars. When you need to crimp a pin onto a wire that has broken off, if you don't already own a crimping tool you should really consider buying a connector with solder cups and just installing it. I just wanted to make *This is P. Due to the fact that I dislike extracting connector pins, I only rated it 4 stars.
