Questions & Answers

How does the ever-crippling tip fare these days? Do you have recent experience with it? Has it not yet proven to be ?

In a very short period of time, my mine corroded and faded. After I got some replacement tips, I became religious about tinning the tip at the start and end of a session. It is always a good idea to unplug your computer if you are going to leave it for any period of time. I am not aware of any kind of heat regulation on these. The iron will dump all its power all the time, so if you leave it in the stand for a few minutes, the temperature will rapidly climb into the 900s. The tip will get eaten up quickly if you have several long sessions. If you plan on doing long sessions, it's a great idea to invest in If you select a hakko clone, it will cost a little more but will be much easier to use

Does it have a thread in the tip like the weller soldering iron?

*br>We examined the tip note and found no thread from Tech Support.

The tip has already been tinned, is it not?

I'd say yes. You need to wait a few minutes for it to overheat and oxidize heavily until it is

Could you please replace the tips?

Tip is inserted with a screw, then held in place by mechanism.

I think this iron is a piece of trash
3/5

The Radioshack hobby soldering iron that I bought several years ago was defective. I wanted to replace it with this product. This iron was great, but I had a synth that needed work. I was also desperate, and let's just say I made some mistakes. My main focus is pretty detailed soldering, so I do a lot of it. An example of a circuit board component. I have a problem with this iron. The tip gets way too hot, too fast, and it's way flimsy. Even though I have been soldering and doing minor electronics repairs for years, I once destroyed a $125 board using this thing. The device is fine for arranging dumb old wires, but you can't use it for any close fine work, no matter how dextrous you are. While I probably should've known better, I thought I'd warn someone else who owns a 35-inch flat screen TV The parts for this analog synthesizer are no longer available it dates back to the mid-1940s. You may be able to save yourself from having to frantically locate a replacement CPU board and have to order it directly I just thought you should know. A good time was had by all. It's a good iron as long as you don't buy it.

Usually I solder tinplate into reproduction mugs, lanterns, etc
3/5

I use this tiny tool for tacking parts together and for doing small amounts of soldering. This item is fragile, and needs to be unplugged often between tasks so that the tips do not seize up, which are particularly short-lived and need replacement or modification frequently. Aside from being expensive, they also take a lot of time. The price per unit is six dollars. However, I also have an 80 watt version of the same tool that does not pose any of the above problems, although frequently unplugging is still necessary. After quite a while of use, the last one of these stopped heating, and to get another under warranty, I need to ship it back to the manufacturer. It would be a big help if there was a substitute in a similar size and.

The reason I purchased this was that I wasn't able to find my old Timer Weller and I had some other guitars to repair
3/5

This is a useless piece of trash. When you do manage to solder something, it's a dirty weld which is likely to fall apart. I wired in some new pickups which worked, but then my guitar did not work. I found a lead floating inside the guitar. The solder had popped loose. Unfortunately I could not fix the model I've had for 20 years, but I did find a good ol' boy I've had for 20 years and am getting rid of it.

The quality of the product is poor
3/5

During the first three uses of this soldering iron, I used it After the third time, it overheated by itself, so I immediately cut off the power supply. In 30 minutes, I let the iron cool down, and I turn on the LEDs, but I don't notice any heat. There was also no sense of originality about the product. I felt like I was buying knock-off. It was too late for me to realize that since I hadn't used it much. Avoid this model at all costs.

This product has a seven (7) year warranty
5/5

As soon as I switched to the 3 tip, I was immediately satisfied. Chisel point of 2mm. As much as watts used to heat the tips, I believe the larger thermal mass of the tips makes a difference.

As far as tips go There are 6 points in that. The tip of a 3mm needle weighs zero grams. All by itself, this product weighs 55 ounces. Approximately 0. 5% of the smaller tips are in the 60s and 70s. There are 35 ounces in the package. In addition, I have tips that you might find useful. This thing has a seven year warranty (see page three of the documentation). Here is a copy of your AMZ invoice.

I searched many irons before buying this one based on the name brand (reliable quality) and price
5/5

There were others for a few dollars more that had temperature controls etc. I just need something solid and reliable for things around the house that I don't need to worry about. The tip of this soldering iron was nice and large, just what I wanted. In addition to the LED lights, the device comes equipped with a USB lightning port. I was able to join (2) #10 solid copper wires together in less than a minute after the iron heated up.

The tip was poor
3/5

The name is nice, but the product is not up to par. Heating is decent, though I have to take a break every few minutes to scrape off rust? Flakes that are constantly forming. A layer of flakes seems to form, creating an insulation barrier that quickly degrades Several of the irons I have are smaller and work without this issue such as the butane or radio shack types.

Iron of great quality
4/5

The problem is one small one. I purchased this to replace a radio shack unit that had died within a few months of purchasing. I noticed that after using it several times, I began to notice the tip melting A) turned My guess is I got about a dozen uses out of it before its tip was essentially I bought replacement tips and they have worked well so far. A solid piece of.
