VoltBolt Power Plug Lock-Out - The Power to Control Power - Keyed Alike

It is extremely simple to operate. These are fantastic. It is extremely simple to operate. Simply plug your device into the outlet end of the Volt Bolt and the other end into a wall socket (I use them for my PS4 and Apple desktop computer). The device plug cannot be removed from the Volt Bolt, and electricity will not flow from the VoltBolt into the device when it is locked. When the VoltBolt box is unlocked, electricity will flow from the outlet into the device. br>br>Won't work with devices that run on battery power (e. g. , cell phones). Laptops, tablets, cellphones, and MP3 players are all examples of portable electronic devices. Because the VoltBolt cuts off the supply of electricity to the device rather than the charged battery inside the device, with such battery-operated devices that have wifi access, kids can still access any online games, etc. through the house Wifi, so you must be able to control their wifi access as well. br>br>The VoltBolt would be perfect if it had a remote lock/unlock feature that worked off of a cell phone App (for both Android and iPhone) and a timer system (see Cons below), and the remote control system would eliminate the need to manually add or subtract minutes. It would be even better if it had a token system, where kids could use tokens earned for doing chores, finishing schoolwork, good behavior, and so on, as long as the token system could be overridden by the remote control system, allowing parents to retain control. br>br>Despite the disadvantages listed below, I still enjoy owning the two VoltBolts I have, but I am limited in the number of items I can use them on due to the disadvantages listed below. Consbr>1. br>br>Consbr>1. br>br>Consbr>Consbr>Consbr The biggest flaw, in my opinion, is that you have to lock it with a key, and the two small keys that come with it are easily misplaced. I believe a score of five is appropriate. A four-digit combination lock, or at the very least a key that can be duplicated, would be ideal.
2. It would be better if it had a remote control or could be controlled via your phone. Because the item is such a good idea, it would be worthwhile to pay for the addition of a remote lock option, or the company should sell three different options at three different price points - a key, a combination lock, and a remote control Alternatively, you could devise a way to incorporate your own combination lock. Remote control via cell phone and/or website would be ideal because you wouldn't have to worry about finding a secure location to store the VoltBox keys or a remote control. br>3. It may be difficult to get past the child, or hold a baby, and around to the back of the device if you have an upset or highly agitated child, or one who becomes very upset because they may not have time to save their work before you have to lock it, or if you have multiple children, especially a baby or small one whom you must hold in your hands, especially if the device is placed on a large TV/gaming unit or some other location where the cords behind the device are not easily
4. Because it's such a simple key and lock, some children might be able to pick it. (A child with excellent electrical skills could cut the item cord before it enters the lock box and replace it with a new plus, but Kelly's options are nearly limitless. ) )
5. You'll need to find a safe place to keep the key and the spare key if you don't want your child to take the key and unlock it when you're not around.
6. The VoktBolt does not fully assist with the use of a reward/consequence system. There are no timers or token functions on the VoktBolt. You can't just leave it unlocked for X minutes before turning it off. You can't give them an extra X minutes of use in exchange for good behavior or allowing them to complete a task. It is impossible to turn off without a remote, so it will continue to be used as a punishment for bad behavior.
7. Due to the lack of a remote or a timer that allows you to add minutes, it's difficult to allow a child to save their game or work without having to keep the device unlocked, which is inconvenient if you have kids who try to extend their playing time by saying things like "I have to get to X before I can save. ".

It works perfectly, and we're thrilled to be able to turn off the power to our TV and other electronics. However, there is a significant disadvantage in that the key can be removed while the power is on. As a result, we won't be able to rely on our children to deliver the key to us. Teenagers have a tendency to forget to turn it off. Hopefully, they'll be able to fix the problem. Also, make it so that you can't take the key out of the power on position. My husband or I must physically enter the basement and ensure that the key to the power of position is turned off and removed. If we could just have the kids bring us the key, that would be ideal.

I also likely believed that if I really wanted to, I could find a way around it. Reconsider your position! The power plug of the TV being controlled is tightly locked into the VoltBolt itself when the power is turned off with the keylock switch on the VoltBolt, effectively "bricking" the TV until the keyholder in the household feels that I've earned some more viewing time. Unfortunately for me, they're so reasonably priced that a VoltBolt will be placed on every TV in the house! I've created a monster (who will no longer watch nearly as much television as he used to).

Features that limit how much time you can spend watching TV, gaming, or using your computer. We've been using these for a few weeks and have a few thoughts to share. br>br>Upstairs, there are TWO TVs (NO. NOT in the bedrooms of the children, but in Mom's. dad's room and spare room), as well as the kids' computer in the spare room. I've got a few people who are "too smart for their own good. " As a result of 14-year-olds avoiding chores and sneaking these out when we were sleeping, they were: br>br>1) they were tired in the morningsbr>2) they wouldn't get ready for school unless I put dynamite under thembr>3) their behavior /or inattentiveness at school was becoming a problem due to a lack of sleepbr>4) would say they were going upstairs to clean their rooms, but the rooms weren't clean later, and all the TVs were left onbr>. NOT TO BE ACCEPTED! SO. br>br> WHALA, I bought these and WHALA, I got them. NOW THERE ARE NO MORE PROBLEMS! I found that these were the EASIEST solutions available. br>br>WHERE DO WE GO FROM HERE? br>br>WHERE DO WE GO So, I taped these to the TV's power cords (no TV power = NO VIDEO GAMES, NO MOVIES, and NO TELEVISION) PERIOD! There is no workaround unless they have the key and one on their PC's main power cord. OH. There are no extra power cords that fit into the PC anywhere in our house, for those of you who are astute. That is something I would have thought of as a child. PROS: br>br> It actually works! Everything was exactly as described. Simple to use by turning the key.
- The kids don't seem to mind; it's almost as if they "accept" it! They'd throw a fit if I told them to get off the bus or pack up their games, etc. They simply accept it and move on in this manner. I know it's strange, but it is what it is, and I don't question it; I simply enjoy the advantages.
- My teenage daughter even admitted on Facebook, "mom ONE, kids ZERO," that I won. br> - They must listen, perform well in school, and complete their chores in order to earn time on the television or computer, which they do now!
- Nothing complicated, just a simple solutionbr> - Every VoltBolt comes with two keys, and the manufacturer will replace them for a fee if you lose all of them. br> - 2 and 3 prong plugs are compatiblebr> - acts as an extension cord, providing extra length if neededbr>br>CONS: I need to hide or lock the keys (we have two places where we keep them, and treasure maps to the booty matey are in our heads, arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr The plastic box is a little light, and one reviewer claimed it broke, but I've had no issues with mine. But, yes, it's a little light.
- The key turning mechanism is a little flimsy, but it works and I've had no problems with it, so it's not a deal breaker.
- There is no wall mount, but that isn't a deal breaker. br> It isn perfect for everyone possibly, but it is close enough for us

Purchased these via I believe they were $25 even on com, which had the cheapest place out there. They were $29 on the VoltBolt website's manufacturer's website. You COULD get them all keyed the same (if you bought more than one) as an option, which Amazon did not provide. However, I chose the lower cost option; ) Many thanks to Amazon. br>br>Anyway, there you have it in a nutshell. Because these are on, my children do not become enraged at us. I'm not sure why, but they always have the option of watching TV with their parents downstairs instead of spending more time with us. This has also made it easier to spend time with your family. We didn't have to completely remove the TVs and other electronics from the upstairs, so the kids spend more time outside and we spend more time together. They aren't used nearly as much as they should be. I'm pleased to report that the Wii and PC are now dust-free. SO. br>br> It's perfect for our family, and my husband wishes we'd gotten these sooner!
