This is ineffective because it allows the valve to open quite a bit

I mounted it on a 3/4" pipe, which should have been sufficient according to the instructions. The wings, on the other hand, do not grip the pipe and valve tightly enough, allowing for a great deal of movement. As a result, the ball valve handle can still be turned - almost to the point of complete openness (probably around 75% or so) and if enough friction in the valve body it even stays open. This is a total squander of funds - gives you absolutely no security.

The water ball valve is a perfect fit. It's a deterrent, but it's made of plastic, and it can be broken if someone really wants to get rid of it.
