Questions & Answers

Is the size of the bung holes in the lid 3/4 in nps and 2 in nps?

There are no bung holes in this house. With the use of a lever action compression ring, the entire lid can be removed.

I'm sorry if this is a silly question, but does it come with a lid? The locking ring appears to be included, but there is no mention of a lid. ?

Yes, a lock lid is included.

Is it possible to make a rain barrel out of this?

For the downspout, I drilled a hole in the top. I purchased a faucet but have yet to install it. I use a bucket to remove the water. It's a sturdily built barrel.

Is it possible to fill this with liquid and turn it over without it leaking? It's something I'd like to turn into a rock tumbler. ?

The lid/drum seal on the drum I received is very tight, so I don't think it will leak on its side. However, I'm not sure what the constant impact of rocks will do to the lid/drum seal.

Rain Barrel is a type of barrel that is used to collect rainwater
4/5

Very good (but not perfect) product. I made a Rain Barrel out of this. Advantages: br>br>
1. Container is made of high-quality plastic and is brand new.
2. It was simple to cut a hole in a plastic lid.
3. To show where the spigot was, there was already a circle (marked). br>br>Contrary to popular belief, there are a number of disadvantages to using this product.
1. The lid ring is also made of plastic. In the photos, it appears to be made of metal. This isn't an issue; in fact, it's quite the opposite. However, given the hot weather, I expect this to be the first part to fail. Saying that it is unlikely to be a problem in the long run.
2. The lid is not flat, and the plastic is very warped. While this isn't a problem, there will be some areas where there is standing water. br>br>The Rain Barrel method that I used (I am not an expert on this subject). br>Before deciding to make my own rain barrel rather than buying one, I did a lot of research online. I made one up on Amazon. The spigot (leaking, not being brass, breaking, etc. ) or the bottom cracking out were mentioned in the majority of the reviews. I don't believe these issues will arise. br>br>I recommend purchasing the RainPro Brass Spigot, which comes with the barrel. The only real "magic" in this device is the seal it creates with the rain barrel (as shown in the product pictures). The 1/4-turn spigot is also a nice feature. If you simply needed to replace the spigot for whatever reason- You could easily do so, and the rain barrel's seal would be fine. br>br>Actual Process:
1. A circle near the bottom of the barrel marks the location of the spigot- A hole for the spigot will be drilled here.
2. In the center of the lid, cut a circle. This was approximately 7" in diameter.
3. Installed a 36" wide aluminum window screen to cover the top of the window. (At a big box store, this costs around $8. ) Mosquitos and other insects will be kept at bay. br>4. I pressed the lid firmly against the barrel- I allowed the screen to fit inside the lid without tearing it.
5. The plastic lid ring was added after that.
6. Sides of the aluminum screen were trimmed of excess material.
7. You'll require some height to complete this task. I used concrete pavers, but any method of elevation would suffice.

Rain Barrel is a good rain barrel in general
4/5

This is an excellent barrel that I would recommend. The lid is plastic, but it's a better kind of plastic - it wasn't completely flat in the middle, for example. It's a little warped, but it still fits, and it collects a little rain water on top, which burns off on a hot day in North Carolina. It's ribbed for added rigidity, which I like. BTW - I use it to collect rainwater, and I use the Earthminded DIY Rain Barrel Diverter Kit (shown in the photo).

Actually, it's not for collecting dust
3/5

I'm sure this drum would be ideal for storing beans or water, so if that's what you're looking for, this is a great option. It is not, however, suitable for dust collection. When I connect everything to a dust cyclone and turn on the shop vac, the drum collapses due to the vacuum. I'll have to go out and get a new lid, as well as de-clutter the house. Return it to its original purpose as a storage device. Because my shop vacuum is small and weak, I'm concerned that some of these dust-collection reviews may be misleading.

Chips in a barrel The barrel serves as a dust collector for me
5/5

I have a big dust collection system in my woodworking shop. This barrel collects the majority of the debris before it reaches the main vacuum collecting bags, with a 4 inch inlet pipe and a 4 inch outlet pipe.

This was a good buy
5/5

This is one of the best Amazon purchases I've ever made. There are four of them. It still works as well as it did when I first got it, years later. Rain barrels are crucial, particularly in terms of material quality. The use of the incorrect material will result in slimy water. I've never had that problem, and the water tastes fine even when the lid is closed. If you're looking for a rain barrel, this one is well worth the investment.

When purchased with Prime delivery, this item is a great deal
5/5

These barrels' prices fluctuate, but if you're patient, you can usually get them for around $70 if you act quickly. Prime members receive free shipping. That's a tough one to top. It's a nice, clean, thick-walled house with a nice, clean, thick-walled house with a There's no shady odor or other surprises in this barrel, and it comes with an all-purpose lid. the heavy-duty plastic heavy-duty lid and lever ring (rust shouldn't be a problem). It's worth noting that the image isn't accurate - It appears to be a metal ring, in my opinion.

The seal around the lid is 100% not airtight unless silicone grease is applied. Unless you keep your barrels upside down, this is unlikely to be a problem.

Nice!
5/5

WOW! I bought this to use in a dust collection system I'm building. This should suffice. The material is thick and durable, the lid closes securely, and the overall construction is solid. I'll be using a 2HP DC for this, and I'm confident it will withstand the suction without collapsing. When everything is in place, I'll post an update.

It's ideal for the Super Dust Deputy
5/5

This is a collection drum for a super dust deputy that I'm using. The lid is well-made and creates a tight seal. The lid is raised in the middle, which I thought would make mounting the SDD difficult, but the seal was fine after finding the drill holes in the lid and ratcheting the SDD to it. Excellent craftsmanship.
