Yes, while standing or sitting with your feet on a grounded floor or an esd floor mat that is grounded, these are designed to ground you. They sell a desco model 19283 tester that you can use to make sure you're grounded with your heel straps.
In fact, I discovered that it did not work at all.
Your skin is already in contact with the floor if you're walking around barefoot. br>This is designed to allow your skin to come into contact with the ground while wearing shoes. It's commonly found in electronics labs with conductive flooring. When I was working for Raytheon, I needed this.

It works as advertised in terms of heel grounding. The issue is that it falls off my shoe on a regular basis. I have a men's size 11 shoe that I try to keep as tight as possible, but it still slips off after a quarter mile. I've previously purchased a pair of $15 heal grounders from Amazon, and those have a longer velco strap, so they stay on my shoe better. Unfortunately, after about a month and a half of use, they usually break. br>br>Because I use these for "grounding" or "earthing" outside of the workplace, they get a lot more use than if I only used them for work. Even so, there's no reason to keep falling off.
So I bought this heel grounder for my mother because she is extremely sensitive to static shocks. It's something she wears almost every day - especially during the colder months - and she seems to enjoy it so far! It appears to be quite sturdy, and she isn't receiving nearly as many shocks as she was before:.
My hair is quite long. Static remains in my hair. When I touch something, I don't get a jolt. 👍.
For me, it's perfect! It is required that I put it on both of my shoes. This is my second purchase because the first one broke the long thing that goes inside your skin and touches it. Every winter, I'll continue to purchase this.
Until now, I've been getting shocks at work while pulling plastic off my foam rolls for the past 22 years! I haven't had a shock in two days since I put these on my work shoes. I'm quite pleased with them. They were both purchased by me. If they're of good quality, they'll keep my shoes in place. I'm also earthing/grounding while I work, which is a nice bonus! I would suggest it.
In terms of the item itself. It appears to be functioning properly. It would have been nice if it stated that it only came with one. I'll need two because I'm only two feet tall. Most people, as far as I'm aware, have two feet. Yes, there are a few of us who do not, and I apologize.
The problem with only having one strap is that static charges pass right through the grounding resistance of only one strap. The only thing a single strap accomplishes is to reduce static electricity. When you wear two straps, the sudden discharge is eliminated, and you are not aware of it as it occurs.
Because both straps are non-stretch velcro, this strap is not suitable for people with wide feet. It requires a lot of effort to put on and is quite uncomfortable. If you don't tighten it enough, it will move around a lot and you will have to keep putting it back in place.
