It will, in fact. This is where I go for a walk while working on my laptop. Every few minutes, I would shock myself. I wrapped aluminum foil around the metal heartbeat sensor, leaving a small tab hanging off, and then connected the alligator clip to it. I'm no longer shocked when I run on the treadmill.
This device is intended to prevent an electrical technician from causing a static discharge to sensitive electrical components (i.e., power supplies). (For example, a computer, a datalogger, a gas analyzer, and so on.)
While the alligator clip does unplug from the cable, leaving a straight, round plug that appears to be capable of doing what you want, I don't believe it was designed for that purpose. When I tried directly plugging it into the ground of several different duplex outlets, the connection was at best shaky.
It should be grounded to a recepticle ground wire; on a three-pronged plug (in the United States), the center conductor is grounded, as is usually the screw used to attach the face plate to it. So, a wire from this screw to the wrist strap's allagator clip could be used to ground the wrist strap. In my setup, I have a power distribution switch box with a small grounded lug on the back of it. So I just use a wrist strap to attach it to it.

Tl; Purchases should be avoided. Come up with something new. br>br>On this band, the rivet snap was placed in the worst possible location. Because the velcro of the band overlaps the connection point with the tether, I can't attach it because my wrists are average to small. The device cannot be slid along the strap because it is riveted to provide an electric connection to the skin. Between the rivet snap and the plastic piece where the snap doubles back, there is about 3 inches of wasted space. So even if I velcro the strap to the point where it fully engages, the metal will not come into contact with my skin. It's more of an ankle strap than a wristband. For the time being, I've been velcroing directly over the snap, but only a small amount of velco engages, making it flimsy and difficult to unsnap.
I took my meter and found no continuity through the thing after I used it to repair my Mac, I couldn't believe it, DO NOT BUY THIS.
I was blown away the first time I used this static band. The wrist strap is a good length and feels good on the wrist. It should comfortably fit wrists of all sizes. The cord is also quite long, and it fits snugly into the alligator clip. br>The alligator clip bent the second time I used the strap, so I had to stop and straighten it carefully. I went to my Fluke multimeter's accessories and got a more substantial clip to use when it bent again. The issue has been resolved. Overall, if you are careful with the clip or purchase a larger one, this is a good static strip. They are reasonably priced.
When I decided to upgrade my processor, graphics card, and memory, I discovered that this was a thing on YouTube. At this point, it feels like I'm taking vitamin C pills. I'm not sure if it makes a difference, but in this case, I'd rather not find out the hard way. I haven't fried anything with it on, so I guess it works. I can't take any points away because it appears to be doing what I paid for.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank During my work with church live stream video broadcasting during these dry winter months, I used a grounding cord in conjunction with an Anti Static bracelet to help discharge static electricity. The Elgato Stream Deck device is great, but it's prone to shutting down due to static shock. The grounding cord, combined with the Anti Static bracelet, has solved my problem completely. I'm blown away by how well it works right out of the box. Device that is both easy to use and effective.
I've previously reviewed this product, but I'll do so once more. I find it to be effective. I exhausted my older husband working on a 48 double bubble aluminum sheet by 18" by 4' insulation project for a 24 foot pation with covered roof. It would overheat in the summer, so I purchased a four-foot roll of bubble aluminum insulation with one side metallic and the other white, which caused OUCH OUCH OUCH more static shock than I care to remember. With his wristlet, my husband saved the day. Oh, my gosh, that's a game changer, to use a phrase I despise. But I've used this device for similar work before and wouldn't be without it now. I wore out my husband's, so I had to buy him a new one, as well as one for myself. These are reasonably priced and perform similarly to one another. This one is satisfactory, and if necessary, I will purchase additional copies.
Even though the cabinet is grounded, you can still get shocked when sandblasting even if the electricity is turned off. All static shock was gone after I connected this strap to my wrist and grounded the clip to the cabinet. It does exactly what it says.
It's a slam dunk. wrist strap that does not move. I'm at a loss for words. It's either going to work or it's not going to work. There's also the fact that the yellow version isn't stretchy. It's difficult to put on and remove. If you need to step away from a work area, you can simply remove the wire's button clip, but being able to pull it off would be nice. br>br>Gets 3 stars because there are other elastic straps available for the same price.
