I recognize that it is a bit much for a fishing kayak or canoe to handle, even when loaded with gear, but I am confident that I will not need to upgrade the pulleys if I ever decide to use it for something else. If you're that angry, you can drop some oil out of the box, but they are not quiet out of the box. A 1/4" rope fits perfectly without any issue. It is a great pulley for the price and I would buy it.

There are no issues with the pulleys, they appear sturdy and well-made. As such, there is a little bit of friction at the rotation point of the pulley wheel, making it more difficult.

They're sturdy and well made. This is not the way to do it. I find that these are a bit too noisy, and they have too much drag. But if I had to pull a log or do work that was heavy, I would.

The rope is 3/8" and I find it works well.

This is a very solid product. I use it for my sailboat tender hoist and it works fine.

The pulley is very sturdy and heavy duty. To lift weights in my garage, I used them for a DYI pulley system. My experience was completely hassle-free.
