Questions & Answers

The round spacer bolts were already attached to my pin puller. I'm not sure how I'm going to get rid of these things. ?

They could be left-hand threads, I believe. The first time, I had to use pliers to hold them in place because they were so tight!

Is it possible to use it on a Chevy 350 Recipe pin?

I believe it should work on 350 Chevy wrist pins because I have used it on air-cooled VW wrist pins.

Will this work with different sizes of pistons? What is the diameter and length of the wrist pin?

Two adapters are included with the piston pin puller, which will fit most pins. The adapters are on the t-connector's opposite side. handel. Either one or the other should be used.

Is it possible to use an 80mm wrist pin with this?

It was purchased for a Polaris 800, but it is far too small. I'm not sure if this is of any use to you, but it's all I have.

Out of the box, it's a little rough
3/5

The cast aluminum threads were so badly cut that I had to lube them and work the T handle to get it apart; after I tapped the threads and covered everything in anti-seize, the wrist pin came out clean and easy.

I'm afraid I'll have to give this a one-star rating
3/5

I'm afraid I'll have to give this a one-star rating. The end should have been socketed so that you could use a socket wrench to remove it. With a hallowed out bar on the pin, I had to use leverage and bend everything to hell. I'm still working on it, having stopped at about a quarter of the way through. Here are some pictures of the end result. The end cap has become stuck, and I am unable to remove the pin.

This is shoddy workmanship
3/5

This is a complete waste of time. Before the handle bent and the tip broke off, I moved a piston wrist pin about 1/4" forward. It is not worthwhile to purchase this item.

For smaller pistons, it works fine
4/5

This pin puller is ideal for pistons in small engines and motorcycles. So far, I've used it three times on two-stroke pistons with displacements of 360cc, 250cc, and 175cc. It isn't particularly robust, but it does the job for what I do.

It's quite effective
4/5

For my Vespa PX150, I purchased this. With this puller, I was able to remove the wrist pin while the scooter's engine was still running. It comes in handy when pulling and aligning the new pin through the connecting rod roller bearing while the scooter is still running. However, it appears that the 150cc engine piston pin is the smallest that it will work with. It will work on larger pistons, but not on smaller pistons like those found in lawn mowers, for example. In short, this puller saved me the time and effort of having to disassemble my scooter's engine just to replace the pistons and rings.
